What exactly are you trying to do? There's quite a few ways to go about this depending on what you want. Like do you want to just toss it into a new project and keep all your settings? In that case you can do a Save As and just delete the rest of the tracks. Are you happy with the sound and just want the audio? You can bounce to clip which will print all the effects right onto the wave and then you can open another instance of Sonar and just drag/copy the wave into the new project (you need to have your Preferences set to allow two projects to be open at the same time for this)? Do you want to export the single track? You can select the track, select Export in the global File menu and in the export settings select Track(s) and make sure it is set to export just that one track.

If you describe what you want it'll be easier to tell you how to do it.

First I am no sound engineer. I was tasked with setting a new sound system at church. I am good with pc but this music stuff is foreign.
So I am recording a church service, I want to pull the Gospel reading and Sermon and make them a PODCAST.

SONAR is a lot of software for that task. Since it is probably one continuous track, the easiest way would be to drag and drop the wave from the SONAR track to the desktop. Personally, I would use a simple audio editor for this task. You can get it done for free with Waveshop or any number of free and commercial audio editors.

So you have one long segment of audio and you only want a part of it? Like 10 minutes of music, ten minutes of talking, 10 minutes of music and you just want the speaking part?

In that case what you do is (and I'm assuming you own Sonar or some other DAW) use the editing tools to put "splits" at the start and end of the part you want. Split tool is usually a pair of scissors in most DAWS or in Sonar you can simply put the "timeline" at the spot you want to split and press S on your keyboard to make the cut. If there are multiple track you need to "select" them all by holding Ctrl on your keyboard and clicking all the tracks you want. Once you have made the splits select the parts you DON'T want by clicking on them which will highlight them then press the Delete key on your keyboard. Once you have all the unwanted stuff edited out you can Export the audio which is described in the manual. In Sonar it's File > Export then you set what you want to export in the dialog that pops up. Usually "What You Hear" is the best option. However there are many different settings in there for different formats and compression rates so if you need a special format you'll have to read the manual on how to get the proper files.

There are lots of other things you could do like cross fades and adding effects to make the audio sound clearer but you have to read up on all that or ask more specific questions.

The short version is Import the raw audio into the DAW (like Sonar), Trim out the parts you don't want using Splits and Delete, Select the time range where the audio is (look at the manual) or move the waves closer to the start of the project, set your levels, select File > Export and choose the appropriate settings and where you want the resulting file to be saved to and click the button to export (usually will say OK or Export). Wait for it to finish and then look for the file where you chose to save it to.

    Hope that helps.

While I agree Sonar may be "overqualified" to do that task, it's also very easy to do in Sonar.

First, the fact that you can see the wave helps tremendously.  Expand the track size by grabbing the bottom of the track and drag it down to make it bigger.  Use the zoom.... located in the lower right corner to zoom out a bit. You use the same control later to zoom in again.  The zoom can be used to change the number of measures you can see on the screen. On really long files, I zoom out to move rapidly in the project and zoom in to work in a specific area with precision. It is possible to zoom out to see the entire song project and also to zoom in to see the actual bits in a given tick.

The wave will show the silence spots as straight lines.... so find the silence before the part you want. Right click on the silence and select SPLIT and apply the split. Repeat this at the end of the part. With the 2 splits, you have now created a clip.... well actually 3 clips but the one you want is between the 2 splits you entered.

Click on the clip you want....right click and it will turn darker in color to let you know it's selected. Right click to open the edit dialog box and choose COPY. Click OK....  IN a new track, click anywhere near the start point and right click... select PASTE. This can be in the same project or in a totally new project.

You can also use CUT to remove it from the original track..... you can click and drag it out ..... you can also select EXPORT from the FILE menu and export it out directly to a new wave file..... the options are not limited to only one thing.

    hope this helps you.
