actually, we'll be landing in Cancun, but we're staying south of Playa del Carmen, about an hour's drive from CUN airport.
No worries!! Although you might get a better deal (open bar) if you put it on Basi's tab.....(the Bouy will bill him seperately for that).... Cheers!!

We've never been. In fact I've only been out of the country once before and that was only 1 day in Nassau on a cruise. I'm interested in seeing the Mayan ruins before the end of the world. After all, the Mayans aren't around to see it, so....

The fishing is far from relaxing but it is a blast. The sea of Cortez is one of the richest fishing areas on the planet.

Beag, I heard on the news radio this A.M. about some money laundering bust that happened (I think) in New Mexico and all American travelers to Mexico were warned to be watchful as the drug cartels might retaliate against the tourists.
Please check it out and confirm/verify before you leave for Cun.

I've been watching the news regarding Mexico tourism and drug cartel problems, but all of the problems seem to be in Central Mexico (Mexico City) and on the Texas borders. I haven't seen any reports of any problems in the Yucatan peninsula yet. Pedro - water is not in the top of my list for beverage of choice while on vacation.  But if I do, I'll have the bottled water.

Remember that salads and veggies might also be washed in that water. Ice cubes can be a problem, too. For some reason, Margaritas don't seem to have the same problem. It must be the alcohol that kills the bacteria. Have a great time.

good tip, Jan. I didn't even think about salads being washed in it. BUT, we're staying at a resort and I've read and been told that the resorts are much better than what's "in town" or other parts of Mexico. I might bring some pepto just in case! bit - funny but I just checked the forecast for Playa del Carmen for our vacation time and it's supposed to be 60% chance of rain!  you need to keep your rain and clouds up there and leave our vacation time alone!

That's right... You're a bit (no pun in ten did) farther north than I am. We get lots of rain, but lots of sun too down here in the Portland Metro area while you get about the same amount of rain in about twice the number of days up there! (I was doing some research in case I needed to move to the Redmond area near Microsquish.) Of course, you're moving to the Philippines where you'll get between 1.5 and 5 times the amount of rain in about 1/8th the number of days!
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!
