Onyx 400F firewire and RME 9632 together?

I would like to canvas some opinions on what I am considering for an upgrade from my old Aardvark DP24/96.

I am curious if I can use a Mackie onyx firewire interface - maybe a Onyx400F (great for for its 10X10 I/O) as well as an RME Hammerfall DSP 9632 without conflicts. I want the latter for the optical I/O and somewhat better sound. I don't expect that they can run at the same time but I would like to use the SPDIF between the 400F into the rme.
