Does the old project use TTS-1 synth ? If so, then try removing tracks with TTS-1. Actually if the track is not an Instrument track, you can simply mute the MIDI track driving the TTS-1. Some of my old projects with TTS-1 tracks crash as soon as the first note is sent to TTS-1. Some old projects with TTS-1 work fine. New Platinum projects have no issues with TTS-1. I am still working on figuring out what is going on. This has been occuring since July release I think.

No, I don't use TTS-1. It does not fully open and then it crashes. So maybe I need to re-install 8.5 and edit it until it works with Platinum? Thanks

Hi are you using the latest 2016.09 update? If so can you please create a problem report with a crash dump attached and list the bug number? We can look into why its crashing for you.

I've experienced a few crashes myself this week, but no minidumps were generated (just a "sonar has stopped working" dialog). It is my understanding that SONAR no longer requires any user action to enable minidumps, is that correct? (I was able to identify TTS-1 as the culprit, however, from the event log.)

We have a bug in the crash reporter :) It will be fixed shortly. But yes under normal circumstances minidumps should get created under %AppData%\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\Minidumps and the problem reporter should automatically get launched. Otherwise windows should take over and save a minidump on its own.

I sure hope this get sorted out..... I have a lot of 8.5 CWP files I need to open and update to AD etc. All of them have TTS-1. At least I still have X3e and Professional from last summer installed if all else fails.

The weird thing is that TTS-1 crashes only some projects so it can't be simply a TTS-1 issue. I have a project started in Sonar 7 that made its way thru all the upgrades to Platinum. It uses all 32 channels of 2 TTS-1 instances. It works fine. Maybe you will luck out with your older projects. I have another project that uses one channel of one TTS-1. It worked for sure in Plat 2016-7 or 2016-6. It crashes 2016-8.1 EVERY TIME. If I replace the TTS-1 instance, it crashes. If I start a new project in 2016-8.1 with only the TTS-1, it works. So the problem is more complex than just TTS-1.

vechung Ok, I created the problem report and it is CWBRN-545909/30/2016 Sonar Platinum crashes when loading a Sonar 8.5 project.
Hello the crash is actually in VVocal. Can you also attach a minimal version of the project including the audio data? in 8.5 delete all but the vvocal track and save again. Then try and reopen the project in Platinum. You can then zip the files and attach it to the report.

May be irrelevant, but one commonality between V-Vocal and TTS-1 is that they are both DX.

I always found VVocal buggy so I don't use it so I guess I'll be fine.. But TTS-1 is my Kick drum as well as organ on most of my backing tracks. As I move ahead I'm now using more AD kick drums, but I need to find a good stand along classic B3.
