Opening an old bun file
I have a bun file from 2001. If I open it and choose to "Store Project Audio in its own Folder", Sonar (2016.08) simply hangs after creating some folders (Project name, Audio and MixScenes). If I untick this option, it places one wav file in my wavedata folder which puts the two wav files in this project end-to-end and then hangs. So the original wav data is recoverable, but the project is not. Fortunately, I also have a wrk file which does open and gives me the envelopes/settings etc but not the audio. Hence this project seems to be recoverable.
My question is whether there is a more elegant way to do this? I would have hoped Sonar would open old bun files, but perhaps that level of backward compatibility is too much to expect. I'm sure I could install an old version to do this but I'd rather not have to (and there may be gotchas with Windows 10 and old versions of Sonar - or even Cakewalk Pro).
Cheers, Peter.
