Opening multiple effects

How do you open multiple effects at the sAme time? When I try the one I just opened disappears.

If it's not in the mix, it's not in the master

Windows 10 64 bit, MSI MOBO, Intel i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz, 16 gigs of ram
Sonar Platinum, some Plugins, crud, junk, some wires and stuff

    Hold either shift or ctrl, I forget which one as you select, there is also a setting in preferences/vst something like recycle plugin windows, that will do the trick. You can also use the 'pin' thingy in the corner to pin them etc
