Opinions on Kompakt ?

Opinions on Kompakt ?

I've been using Sampletank 1xl and need to get new sample player. I was looking at Kompakt.It seems to come with a pretty good library and can import Akai etc.I'm not really into building my own sounds and Kontakt seemed like overkill for my uses,plus my system isn't powerful enough for Kontakt 2.
Is it stable in Sonar?
How cpu hungry is it?
Does it do DFD streaming like Kontakt?
I chose not upgrade to Sampletank 2 because the upgrade to 2L is 199
amd I 've seen it retail for 229.00.Doesn't seem to fair to me.

    I've heard reports that 1 instance of Kontakt ( 16 tracks ) is only the slightest bit more CPU usage
    than one instance of Kompakt ( 8 tracks )
    However this is the kompakt version that is released with EWQLSO Gold, which is not the same as the "real" version of the software, however I don't know what the differences are in the versions.
    I have QLGold and StormDrum and they use kompakt.
    I don't think it's that great of an interface and if I could have gotten these libraries in Giga I'd much prefer that format. It does do DFD.

    I tried the demo and it wouldn't play my current .nkis properly - in fact virtual sampler does a better job.

    I then downloaded the demo of kontakt2 and was blown away by how much better the vintaudio piano sounds in that than in virtual sampler. Maz needs to sort out his kontakt importing.

    *sigh* - more money, more money.

    Yep.
    I've been hearing good reviews of K2. If I had the bucks I'd go for it also.

    Although I prefer kontakt(still using 1.6),I will say that both kontakt and Kompakt perform well as DXi's as well as VSTi's which is nice,and moving librarys around is a lot less painless than most other samplers or instruments.I don't know if Kompakts library has been updated recently as in the case of Kontakt 2,but I didn't care much for Kontakts old library or kompakt's.Hopefully Kompakt's library has been updated as well.

    I have had Kompakt a while and I like it. Easy to use and it does not hit your CPU very hard. It does what I need. I bought Kontaki and it is overkill for what I do. I have not had any problem getting different formats to work with Kompakt.......................JDW

    FYI - Just saw there's an update for Kompakt, it's 1.0.8 now.
