Optimization List For Win 8 (with Sonar X3 Producer / Roland UA-1010)

Would you kind folks be willing to direct me to a list of the most suitable optimizations for Windows 8 (with Sonar X3 Producer / Roland UA-1010)?

I apologize in advance for what may be a rather obvious posting however I've a found a number of such lists over the years and they can be somewhat contradictory and nonspecific to DAW's, and I figure y'all might just have a favorite list and even better it might be prioritized and specific to Windows 8 (with Sonar X3 Producer / Roland UA-1010)?

As always I am much obliged.

It's been my understanding lately that nothing really needs to be optimized in Win 8. Just general common sense stuff like closing apps while recording and maybe putting it in airplane mode. My wifi was interfering with the sound. Weird but true. I'm sure there are some that will disagree, but that's been my conclusion after researching. Oh, and if you have a laptop, use performance mode setting and lift all the power saving features like usb sleep and whatnot.

Other than making sure that your floppy drive is disabled in the BIOS (if it is an option) and using performance mode, I can't think of anything that has made a difference here.

As is stated in other threads:
    Disable ALL automatic non-essential tasks
       auto checking/updating for ALL programs
some of this is done using services.msc
some is done via the task scheduler
some of this is done in the programs
    Disable auto power options
       NEVER use sleep
disable wake timers, and auto hibernation
disable screen blanker, and screen auto off

Some people also recommend to have the hard drive and cpu always on and at full power.

Assessment processes: windows performs lots of performance assessments of the computer and then phones home.

Disable auto defrag, auto disk health, performance assessments,.... mostly in the task scheduler.

'Tis true most of us will not be aware of a lot of these activities. But late one Tuesday night the defragger started and slowness was the symptom. Never again will that happen to me.

I read about gamers spending lots of money and time overclocking and then not paying attention to these little changes that will reduce the process interactions and crashes.
