    This is the marimba we sampled. Apparently the amount of sustain and warmth of its tone is due to how precisely they tune the bars on the marimba, as well as its enhanced resonators. Apparently they tune the bars up to the 6th overtone--which makes sense because any faults in the tuning of the harmonics create beat frequencies and detract from the resonance and overall tone quality.
