Orange Tree Samples Anniversary Sale, 30% OFF Sample Libraries
Yes, you read it here: 30% off ALL LIBRARIES. Go get get 'em. They're great, and highly recommended by many on this forum. I already have 3 of them [along with Mind Control], and if the Rickenbacker Bass were finished, I'd be buying that today. http://www.orangetreesamples.com/

Wow, Wow ... and Wow !. Thanks for the info, had to get my wife to put some money on my card today :-) She didn't smile at me when I asked :-) I have to say ... I'm pretty much blown away. I picked up EEG Strawberry, which I've just had a quick play with. I'll need to spend a bit more time with it to get all the mappings set up and used to it, but from the little muck around I had today, it's pretty darn amazing. What really blew my socks off is the "Passion Flute", which I also picked up. Man, that flute is something else. I wish I'd had in my toolbox before now, I've been struggling with some projects simply because I couldn't find a flute that was up to it ... and I've got a few. I'd basically shelved those for a while and every now and then I'd open a project and dig through all the samplers and their flutes, and never managed to find one that really worked for me. This one is just so playable and expressive, I almost can't believe my ears - it's really out of this world. I can't get over how easy it is to play and get phenomenal results. If I had some more spare moolah, I'd be grabbing at least a couple more libraries ... if not the lot. That's how good they are !. I wonder if they'll be doing a nice Sax anytime soon ? If you've got the full version of Kontakt, I recon you owe it to yourself to check these out. I would love to have grabbed the MesaWinds "Native American Flutes" too, but I'll have to wait a bit. The sale ends this coming Monday, so I had to come back over here to let you know what I think, and thank the man who started the thread. - Thanks Kreative :-) Cheers - Cliff

Thanks for your comments about the flute. It sounds like another thing that I really would like to have. Certainly, you've tried others and have something to compare it to. Your review is very positive. You remind me that, perhaps, I should grab this thing, too. I'm glad that at least one person found this thread helpful and that you have been rewarded with some awesome audio tools for making music! Congrats! I had to also add an edit to agree with you that a saxophone library would be an awesome project for Orange Tree Samples to produce - and Greg, if you're tuned in to this thread, take note!

Sax library--check. Really, it's just about finding the right approach to sampling an instrument, between what needs to be sampled and what can be scripted for added flexibility.

With a multitude of expressive variations, I would wonder if the saxophone isn't a much more difficult undertaking, Greg. I don't see that there are lots of libraries of this kind around. Vienna Symphonic Library has a tenor sax, to name one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nfEkxLxS0k Here's a new sax from Zero G. But I can't help but think that a Gregjazz kind of pizzazz might step it up a lot more than something like this. Anyway ... Greg's got a lot going on, and with the Rickenbacker presently in production on the assembly line, we'll have to wait and see what comes next in the future.

I've got to say that ... anybody that wants an amazing flute library capable of all sorts of articulations for both aggressive and soft music, well, get this Orange Tree Passion Flute: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/passion-flute. Its on sale with 30% off- and the sale price is soon to expire any day now. Listen to the recorded songs on the above web page and you will be blown away. I'm going to grab this tomorrow night when I get home from work. Its absolutely astounding, really. For $90.30 there is nothing else like it. From Orange Tree: " We sampled the flute in 48,000 kHz, 24-bit, which is a great balance between size on your hard drive (affecting the library’s load time and memory usage) and audio fidelity. That’s over 4,600 samples, totaling 1.15 GB of flute samples. Furthermore, we sampled the flute with five different microphones, everything from modern condenser mics to a vintage ribbon mic, giving you flexibility to mix the flute however you want--or pick from the included factory presets. The mic signals were completely unaffected, so Passion Flute’s real-time mixing control starts all the way back with the raw audio signals. Speaking of mixing, we also included the ability to import and export your flute mix presets. That way, you can easily share them with other Passion Flute users. Key Features: - 4x round robin, 5 morphing dynamic layers - Modeled vibrato, with real-time control over speed and depth - Overblown notes, playable harmonics - Effects and phrases including growls, fluttertonguing, screams, and much more - Physically modeled flute fingerings (including 150+ alternate fingerings) for accurate key noises and realistic legato - Wind/breath controller compatible - 5 mic positions with extensive mixing engine included - Sampled in 24-bit / 48 KHz"

These sound very good, Keith. Looks like lots of competition in the world of sax samples. But where's all the vibrato, growl and "sputter" - the kind that Greg put into his passion flute? I'll have to look at these libraries you've posted more closely, I guess. But, I can't help but believe that Greg's meticulous attention to detail wouldn't produce a far superior product than most of what is out there presently. If the passion flute is any indication of what Greg might be able to do with scripting a sax library, I think there is more to be expected, and more musical expression to be desired.
