Orange Tree Samples - Two new guitars:
Orange Tree Samples today released Evolution Songwriter and Evolution Infinity. First is acoustic guitar, second is electric. I've been waiting for Evolution Infinity and purchased it today. Great Kontakt instrument for creating lead guitar parts (although you can play chords on it as well)
I think I figured out why they call it Infinity. It has a sustain/feedback function that will hold a note....well, for infinity. It's great for those Santana or Pink Floyd style leads, where you can just let a note hang there for a long time. It comes with dozens of presets, both clean and distorted, and all of them sound great. And as with all Evolution guitars, they come jam packed with various efx and settings to customize the existing presets. For my lead guitar parts I usually use MusicLab's RealLPC with TH3, but with Infinity, it's like taking a shortcut by having the efx built right into the same program. And the lead guitar emulations sound as good, or better than RealLPC/TH3.
As for Evolution Songwriter, I just purchased MusicLab's new RealGuitar Classic and Steel String Guitars, so I'm going to hold off on getting another acoustic guitar. But I'm sure it sounds pretty good as well.

Product page Player-compatible, NKS-compliant, intro price $139. A worthy successor to Strawberry for electric leads.

Yes Strawberry is one of my favorites, but also a worthy successor of the recently released Evolution Rock Standard. I only wish they would add new strum patterns for each release. They basically use the same ones for each guitar. Although, I mostly used these for lead guitar parts. Or single note patterns as a non-lead instrument.

Player-compatible, NKS-compliant, intro price $139. Or if you have Orange Slices from a previous purchase, it's about $122 (122 Orange Slices = 12% off, on top of the sale price)

Not only does Greg make great instruments, he also has a great loyalty program. I have just completed my Guitars bundle for just over $200 by adding Rock Standard, Song Writer and Infinity by using my Orange Slices for a 19% discount. That's three libraries for $25 more than the list price of one. And with the new Orange Slices from this purchase I get 21% off next time. Downloads underway.

This new Evolution Songwriter is just amazing. It's a Gibson J-45 and a perfect companion to the Evolution Steel Strings, which is a Martin D16R. Using both in my Bach project to amazing results. Thank you, Greg, for making such incredible instruments.

Well I already purchased Evolution Infinity last week and told myself if I want to eat, I can't get Evolution Songwriter until next month. But after reading some more excellent reviews on it, I gave in and made an impulse buy. I'm glad I did. Songwriter is fantastic. Along with all the great sounds you get out of it, it comes with new strumming patterns (something I've been waiting for, since Orange Tree hadn't added new strums to their guitars for a long time) The new strum patterns seem like they were created just for this guitar. I just close my eyes and can almost envision a professional acoustic guitarist playing right in front of me. The new strum patterns are almost worth the price of admission on their own. No buyer's remorse for me!

When I heard the OTS Demo for Evolution Songwriter, I knew I had to have it. So I bit. No remorse. I like that it's a much warmer sounding guitar library than OTS Evolution Steel Strings, and as Leee says, the new strum patterns are an unexpected bonus. I'm still having troubles adapting to the OTS strumming model as far as intuitive playability on a keyboard, but the strum editor and creative possibilities are strong enough to make me spend some time trying to adapt to it.
