I have done this in the past and got GREAT deals, and since the only product I don't own is the new Texas Twang Guitar, I will save a bundle on completing that bundle of great guitars.

On a related note, OTS Strawberry can be had for just $20 (!) as a crossgrade discount (or as low as $8 if the group buy goes to full term).

I haven't been able to figure out what products qualify for the crossgrade discount, but I'm sure Greg will jump in here soon - Greg, if you're reading this could you please clarify? (Also, will this discount still be in effect next month when the next edition of SoundBytes comes out? )

Strawberry is still my favorite among the collection. (OK, maybe now it's in 2nd place after the Rickenbacker 12...but then Twang's pretty awesome too and I'm still getting to know it...)

I haven't been able to figure out what products qualify for the crossgrade discount

Right now the only products we have crossgrades for are from the non-Kontakt Player edition of Evolution Strawberry to the new Kontakt Player edition, and from the non-KP edition of Evolution Steel Strings to the KP edition of Evolution Steel Strings.

Beyond those, there are bundle upgrades, which the group buy also applies to. For example, if you already own one of the libraries in the bundle, you qualify for a reduced price on the bundle. Or if you've bought one of the bundles in the past, and want to upgrade to the latest iteration of the bundle to get any new libraries that were added to it. We have a bunch of users who own the full Evolution guitar bundle, and just upgrade every time a new guitar is released.

bitflipperAlso, will this discount still be in effect next month when the next edition of SoundBytes comes out?

That depends on when during the month SoundBytes comes out. The group buy signup period ends on July 12th, but as long as you've joined the group buy before then, you'll have until August 1st to complete your purchase with the group buy discount.

I promise you, I have one, a handful of 1947 sixpenny pieces, Optima Gold strings, and currently looking into a Greg Fryer Treble Booster to use for the enhanced signal. Naturally each pickup signal will be recorded separately so that you have independent control over them and their phase just like on the real guitar. So it's not going to be released next week or next month, but I'm excited about it too!

Current discount is at 40%, putting most libraries at $107.

Money's tight at the moment, but a voice in my head keeps whispering "the weather's nice now; you can start walking to the grocery store instead of driving. Avoid burning just 2 tankfuls of gas. Your heart will be happy for the exercise and happier still after you've rewarded yourself with that Jumbo 12".

Then another voice butts in and reminds me that my granddaughter turns 14 on Saturday and wants an iPhone. Or cash. Kids! Love 'em, but some days I think I should have given my daughter a box of condoms for her birthday 14 years ago. Would have been a great ROI.

Right now, at 40% my cost for upgrading the guitar bundle to get the new Telecaster is only $48 bucks, if the group buy goes full to 60%, as I suspect it will, that's an unspeakably great deal--plus if I use my orange slices, it may feel like it's getting the new guitar for free!  Thanks, Greg!

So if group buy discount hits max (60% discount) and you had 50% in orange slices you would end up with an 80% discount.

So if was $100 before discount
60% off = $40 remainder
50% orange slices off that leaves $20 remaining due.

in your case 5% orange slices would leave $38 due.

My price to upgrade the entire guitar suite is $400. 60% off (assuming it's hit) = $160, 5% off that = $152. Since that increases my libs by 5 guitars that's $30 per guitar.

Re: Orangetree Samples Group Buy 2018/06/24 08:31:41 (permalink)
I'm in but a bit confused by the figures I am seeing...

I own Rick (Bass), Rick 12 and Mesawinds.

Evolution Guitar Bundle is showing as Special Upgrade Discount $1,119 (also says "get this for as low as $447.60"), but when I add it to my group buy it is showing up as $528.60.

Current GB discount is 40% but 40% discount on $1,119 is $671.40. So what are the other figures and how are they calculated?

EDIT: Looking at it again after I had woken up - I can see that $447.60 is when the full 60% discount is reached (60% discount on $1,119). So the current discount (40%) takes it to $671.40 and the figure when I add it to my GB is $528.40.

Is the difference due to the libraries that I own? In which case I can expect the 60% discount, if reached, to yield an even lower figure than $447.60 for me? Maybe somewhere around $304 (671 - 528 = $143, so 447 - 143 = $304). Anyone know if this looks right?

Re: Orangetree Samples Group Buy 2018/06/24 17:05:01 (permalink) ☄ Helpfulby ZincTrumpet 2018/06/24 17:30:52
It sounds like you've figured it out, but here's a full explanation:

The Evolution Guitar Bundle is priced at $1,199, but since you already own one of the fifteen libraries in the bundle, that brings the price down to $1,119 (14/15ths of the price). As long as you're logged in, it will show you this upgrade price.

The message that says something like "get this for as low as $447.60" is based on if we reach the highest discount tier of 60% off. Again, as long as you're logged in, this figure is based on your upgrade price.

When you add a library to your group buy order, it shows you the current discounted price: since we're currently at the 40% off tier, that would be $671.40.

At the highest 60% off tier, the price for upgrading to the full Evolution Guitar Bundle will be $447.60 (that's $31.97 per remaining 14 libraries in the bundle!). And if you have any Orange Slices rewards points, those can be redeemed for an additional discount.

I have it.  Still finding things to like about it.
It's playable and useful in a lot of different sets.
I would recommend it.
i also have the Modern Nylon.  That one's a little thin/bright, but with a little tweaking you can some nice tones from it.
