Orchestration : No Exit

Please Click below link :)

http://soundcloud.com/acoustic_lov/no-exit-1

E, B are character tones.

They can be the e phrygian or e minor.

This music is just my homework.

Maybe, I could make better job on next time.

Thanks!

This good mix sounds fine here and I think Herb may be right with the A.

The piece really sits in one tonal center too long.  This kind of music cue is very effective when the tonalities shift randomly by major and/or minor thirds (mediant relationships).  Since this piece is all MIDI, it should be reasonably easily to split the clips at various points and transpose them.  You'll likely run into some range issues with some of the instrumentation, but that's part of the fun in working out orchestrations.

    Nice work!

That was quite a journey.  That song could be a great jumping off point for something.  Nice work.

"Just my homework" he says. My gosh. What are doing here? You should be working for Hollywood, or some philharmonic somewhere. Remarkable.

Very accomplished piece of work Taehan.

The piece really sits in one tonal center too long
I wouldn't have noticed this unless 'Jsaras' mentioned it, he has a point, however it's still a superb orchestration.

Well done, sounds pretty realistic. There are some places where the brass sounds like it could maybe do with either some CC11 work or using MIDI control codes to turn legato on and off. The short brass triple-tongue speed notes around 2:00 (and later) are plagued by the 'machine-gun' effect that you get with virtual instruments - have you tried using a RR patch to try and vary the sample used?

Sorry for the technical crits... but if you want to get an A+ these may need to be resolved (I've not idea how harsh your teacher is).

These are really really tiny things though - overall I thought it was a great piece of music and it was well arranged. If you'd had access to a real orchestra (and the time to write the score) it would fit on any movie soundtrack.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

It's refreshing to hear someone do different type of music. I thought this was pretty good. The composition seemed to dwell on each of the themes for a bit long. It may be a good idea to shorten them up just a slight bit.

This is fabulous!  I can definitely see this as a movie score.  Amazing work!  Thank you so much for sharing it with us. What does your teacher think of it?  How long did you work on this?

    Great work!

That's the reason why I love Cakewalk Forum.

jsaras / Your advice of modulation(tonal) is very apposite!
The range issues of instruments of Orchestraion is too.
I considered it too easy. Thank you. I got your lesson :)
Purple Rhapsody / I need Technical crits always. I didn't tried RR patch.
Just controlled attack and release time. I think there is a velocity issue too.
Very weak and poor. I will fix it ASAP!
    Thanks for lesson :)
Guitarhacker / I really hope so but I want to be a good musician in here first.
Then I will get A naturally. Thank you!
foxwolfen / My dream is the greatest composer of movie art. You gave me the courage.
    :)
Janet / I don't know How my teacher think about this yet.. I wrote this music for 1 month.
I afraid receive report card.... :'(

Thanks ervery one for good reply too :)

Like you, I share a great love for composing theatrical music, especially using EWQL instrumentation, which I happen to own 7 of their fabulous works. You might find some of my work interesting on the jrk compendium link in the music section. You have agreat flare for music and I'm sureyour teacher will find your work quite interesting and very nicely composed. I listened to your other pieces as well and they are quite well done. Nice work and just keep with it and you will do very well. Blessings, John
