Order of Synths in Browser
Any way to change/rearrange the order of synths as they appear in the browser?

Create a custom layout in the Plug-in Manager and set "Plug-in Layouts" in the synth plug-in menu to the custom layout.

Maybe the OP means the Synth Rack? If so, it's not possible to change the order.

Yes, I guess I mean the Synth Rack. Didn't know they still called it that, but I'm talking about the list of soft synths in use in a project, not the list of all VSTi's.

I would suspect the order reflects the order in which they were added to the project. I haven't test it in X3 yet but that how it is in 4.0.2

I did not find a way to re-order the ones I had inserted. Can I ask what about the order is bugging you? I am only asking because I rarely go back to a synth in the browser, once I have its preset loaded, so I am just trying to better understand what you want to go back to do with things in the rack.
Thanks, Bob Bone

No. As mentioned they appear in the order they were inserted. To change order delete them and reinsert them is the only way I know. If rearranging is desirable then one could submit a feature request to have synths rearranged like console strips. Steve

Thanks, Bob Bone Bob - It's partly an organizational quirk I have. I just wanted them to be there in the same order in which I usually build a mix: drums, bass, piano, etc. But also (please tell me if I'm wrong about this), it seems that when I open MIDI Groove Clips in the Browser, the default preview synth is the top one. You can change this manually, but since drums are the only Groove Clips I use, I'd like the drum synth to be on top, and thus the default preview synth. My project template is all set up with 12 outputs for the drums, levels and pans set, tracks labeled etc., so I was hoping I could just move Session Drummer to the top in the Browser, rather than delete it and start over, as others have suggested. soens No. As mentioned they appear in the order they were inserted. Thanks for looking at this, Steve. I guess I don't feel strongly enough about it to make it a feature request.

I would also like that feature. Example: I insert an instance of RealGuitar (or some other product) as a rhythm guitar. Later, I decide I want a second one. If they were next to each other, it would look more logical; but, more importantly, it would be easier to mute, solo, freeze, and unfreeze them.

We can replace synth. Though it is not what you all are asking for it will work.
