Oregon Road Trip (3 minute video)

Oregon Road Trip (3 minute video)

http://www.bjornfredricks...28/h98e4035a#h98e4035a

300 mile road trip in 3 minutes

Road trip from Portland, OR to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge  which is just outside Burns, OR
This is the refuge that was "occupied" a couple of years ago.  I like to come out here to photograph
the migrating birds and also to enjoy the vast silence. No freeways here!
Eastern Oregon is a lot different from the western part.

Most of the images were taken while I was driving so the quality isn't all that great, esp the ones shot through the dusty windshield.
The song started out as a Band-In-A-Box accompaniment creation a few years ago.

Nice time and nice video! I think if you were wanting a thought on the music, the drum patch might fit better if it had a "swing" or "shuffle" feel as opposed to the right-on-the-beat 4/4. It feels like your guitars want to lope along rather than march along.

Makes me want to get lost out there somewhere! Thanks for the trip!

Bjorn, I used to live in Portland so this brought back some memories for me.  I tend to agree with Tom about the drums, but regardless, you did a nice job on this.  The music fits the mood of the video quite well, so you're on to something.  Good to hear from you!

    All the best,

That's really nice, enjoyed the trip. Can't help but marvel at the lack of pot-holes in the roads..

    Hiya Bjorn

I enjoyed the collage of stills in your video, some quite entertaining and comical signage haha!

Musical accompaniment was nice, although I would have preferred it more without the percussion to be honest.

    cheers

Thanks.  Prineville is one of those towns I always seem to pass through going somewhere else.

    Tom,
I always appreciate your comments about timing. Going to try the swing thing on the drum track. Thanks.

    Makke
    Thanks for the comment. Appreciated.

    Lynn
Yeah I figured some people from Portland area might respond.
I named the song "Harney County" and wrote lyrics for it too.
I love going out there to the Oregon "outback."

That road going through Mt Hood used to be notoriously bad for its potholes.  It's not bad now.
    Thanks for listening.

    Andy
Thanks for the comments. It's funny you mentioned the percussion part b/c I had gone back and totally replaced the old drum track.  You would think drums would be easier to do  but I find them difficult.

The music really complements the video and you did a good job in syncing both of them.  That looks like beautiful country.  Down here in Fla. we don't have too many of those things called mountains (like 0).  BTW, I haven't seen a Sinclair gas station in I ages.  I thought they were out of business.

    Thanks for the road trip.

    Bjorn ,
I'm in the Portland area located just a quick hop over The I 5 Bridge in Vantuckey
I enjoyed your slideshow pics for sure All the places you drove through I have not been to yet ...

I thought your overall presentation was good .

When I see and hear something like this online I don't sit here and go Gee , this person uses SONAR so all the music has to hold up against every hit record and film score that is out there  ...
Your slideshow was a very good watch and listen . It oozed with a simple down home vibe since you took the pics from scratch and did the same for the music .
Considering what happens on line there is a lot that can be said for that
To me , that means you are a Creator since you Created something out of nothing more than a desire to do so and share it
Your a Big Boy ,  if you feel you can do something better w the music , I'm sure you will get around to it .

Overall I felt good while watching this ...that's all I care about

    all the best,

    Kenny

The internet is nothing more than a glorified real time cartoon we all star in.
    I play a "Gibson " R 8 Les Paul Cherry Sunburst .
The Love of my Life is an American Bulldog Named Duke . I'm currently running Cakewalk By BandLab as my DAW .

"Bjorn to Run"  I like that!  Sometimes it's "Bjorn to Lose" depending on how the day's going.
    Freddy
Thanks for the comments. I think that Sinclair station is still in business. Yeah, you don't see them any more.
    Wookie
    Thanks for the comments.

Hey thanks!  Sometimes I wonder why I take the time (and it's a lot of time) to write a song and post it here. I suppose it's creating something that might live on for a while. Something like that. It's certainly not for the money.
