Organizing Track View elements

This probably sounds like a stupid or trivial question, but in the track view, each track's elements like volume, pan, gain, I/Os etc. jump about if you resize the divider. Maybe it's a good idea but I find it really confusing when I resize the dividers and stuff jumps around all over the place! Is there any way to lock the position of these elements or is this just how it's designed? Also, I'm sure I read that you can add/remove individual things into this pane but I can't remember how it's done.

I not aware of a way to lock a position as such for the widgets. For adding or removing widgets there is a filter for this at the top of the track view next to the time display.

Ahh, thank you John - knew it was there somewhere ("Track Control Manager"). Still getting used to X1's features after years on an older version :) I expect you're right, it's probably not possible to lock the widget positions but if anyone knows otherwise please let me know!

One thing you should use is the Track Inspector. The key bind is I and it offers every control there is.

Plus it wont show less as you change the hight of a track.

Check out Auto Track Zoom, it helps a lot if you like to use track headers. Find it in the view menu of the track view.   It is my new best friend.  I like this almost as much as FBB likes screensets.

Glyn, is that in X2 only? I can't see it here in X1.

There is no lock width function as such but you can jump between two settings very quickly.

Set a user width you want to use, there is already a default that AFAIK is preset and can't be changed.

To switch between the two double click on the track/click pane divider.
