Original Event 20/20 monitors still hold their own?

So I am in the process of updating my studio for the first time in 15 years or so. My Roland VS2480 took a dump on me so I went with Sonar Pro, bought a new PC and TASCAM 16x08 audio interface. Also bought some of those fancy reflection filters for vocals and guitar and a new ribbon mic (always wanted to have one of those.) REALLY liking the results of the new system. I am very pleased with how easily I picked up the new workflow of SONAR vs the Roland DAW and the effects that came bundled are easily on-par or better than the high-quality effects of the Roland.
 
So now I am looking at my monitors... I have the original passive Event 20/20 monitors I bought around 20 years ago and I am wondering if they are still holding their own against the current crop of mid-range monitors on the market. I know they were the "bees knees" when they came out.
 
Wasted money if I "upgraded" them?

    Probably most important is you have known those monitors for 20 years. It is often a topic here about how you need to spend time with any monitor and your mixes translate well to other systems because you know what a good mix sounds like on your monitors. If they work for you , keep them for sure. New speakers might have overall better specs,, but then it might take you a year to re-learn your mixes. 
    I will use my NMS10 until they die. I'm very careful and I baby them, Right now my problem is the Yamaha ps2100 that powers them is starting to crackle. It's from 1975 I think.

    I still have my 20/20's, purchased back in 1997, I did treat myself late last year to a nice pair of Adam's A7x's.  But I keep the 20/20's set up for comparison when mixing.

    Do they stand up against the Adams they sure do.

    probably...but I bought some Yamaha HS80m awhile back, and they are incredible.  Almost to the point of blowing my old JBL 4311 into the dust.

    Wow. You had that 2480 going for a long time. They were pretty amazing. However, what you can do with your new set up is likely to blow your mind in comparison.

    I agree with above about the 2020s. I regret settling mine. Additionally, the nearest pro studio in my area is still using theirs.

    Maybe keeping this one element the same will help you maintain some consistency between work from your old setup and the new.

    Anyway, pretty exciting upgrade!

    Thanks for the great responses everyone. I will hold onto them and put the money into something else. I do need a new power amp for them...
