Original rock song, any feedback on the mix please?

Hi,

I've just written and recorded this song (yesterday) using Sonar X1 essential. I'd be grateful for any comments on the mix. Soundcloud isn't the best quality but hopefully you'll get the idea. Perhaps the drums should be louder?

Thanks.

Not bad.
Drums and vocals could be a bit louder.
At 0:10-0:13 there is a very low-level vocal--not sure if it is deliberate or just the singer coming in too early.
Guitar is plenty loud enough.

Hi,

I've double tracked the main vocal with the second track fairly quiet, then deleted the main vocal at the intro. I left the quiet second track in by accident as it sounded sort of interesting, but I should probably just get rid it. I hate turning my guitar down :-) but you are probably right about it being loud. I'll play a bit more with the vocals an drums.
Thanks for the feedback!

I like the live feel to it. It needs more upfront/clearer vocals in the mix naturally. I like the interchanging riffs with vocal stanzas structure wise.

Yes, I'm back ...with minions. Luv, D

I enjoyed hearing this, and WOW! This is how I do my own sounds.

Get ticked off and stop holding back on the vox, for some reason I can hear you going a bit higher on the vox instead of being so laid back. Nobody likes my vox, so who am I to say, so take that as a grain of salt so to speak.

I like it either way, excellent work!!!!!

Hi Venus and Serious Noize!

Thanks for the feedback it's really encouraging!

I've remixed it and put it back up on Soundcloud.

You are right about my vocals. I need to get a bit more grit in there. Perhaps I should take up smoking and drinking meths :-)

I work with someone who happens to be a drummer. He's not that impressed with my attempts with Session Drummer, so we've going to get some studio time for him to do the drums and for me to improve the vocal. I have another song that needs the vocals re-doing as well, so I'll put them both up here once we've finished.

Cheers!
