Original song - Free to Love sung by Mrs Daryl1968
This one was written by me and my band a few year's ago and has taken me a couple of years to re-record and get it to where it is now. The current MrsDaryl1968 kept on at me to finish this and she was right to (as per usual) Hopefully it was worth all the effort and late nights. Comments more than welcome. http://soundcloud.com/eli...-greenway/free-to-love

This is little gem of a song. Love your production Daryl, that trem guitar on verse 2 was just perfect. Only one nit, is the pre-chorus vocal treatment, don't like that brittle sound, and there's an odd note in there somewhere..''make'' I think. No need to focus on that though, 'cos this excellent. I got a bit of a Kiki Dee vibe, but I am getting on a bit..

Love it! My only complaint is our local radio stations are polluting the air waves with robot voices singing uninspired melodies instead of true art like this.

Great song. I like the chorus. It has been hard for me to determine what it is that seems slightly off with your wife's vocals, and then it occurred to me what is was while listening today. She is singing but not projecting. It is the restraint that I am hearing.

I really like the arrangement and the vocals are excellent except I don't like the blue note in the pre-chorus. The vocal is nicely controlled though it might be nice if she put some more power in a few of the phrases just for the change in timber that causes. Overall I give it 2 thumbs up.

Hi Daryl, Some really nice production there....something about it reminds me of Steve Winwood...maybe the string pad use? In any case, nice work. One nit pick, I'd probably take a tuning pass on the vocals (using Melodyne or whatever). There are a couple spots that could be shored up. I'm curious what you used on this....vocal signal chain, guitars & amps, drums and whatnot. Really liked it. Dean

Hey Daryl The intro percussion/vibe reminded me of a cross between David & David "Boomtown" & Owl City. Again your instrument selection/arrangement really fits the mood of the song. Love the change at 2:12 and the Hammond B3 sound is just AWESOME. Percussion work is excellent on this piece. The little Mrs. does another great job on the vox delivery and holding her notes. If I had to nit and this is really a NIT-PICK . . . the vox on the V1 "to make me" sounds a little off. The Mrs. and you are really putting out some WINNERS that are far better then what I'm hearing on today's radio. KUDOS! Kev

Sounds pretty good. I am only listening on a laptop and for the most part the translation is pretty good. The vocals are great though they seem a little hot to me. The one line "make me change my will" seems like pitchy/odd delivery that at least to me stood out as the rough spot in the song/arrangement. I am just being honest as I would hope you would do for me Daryl. If we blow smoke up each others backsides, nobody gets any better. Thumbs up though!
