Orkney and Shetland Islands A travel video

Orkney and Shetland Islands  A travel video

In 2013 I took a trip to Scotland, mostly to the Orkney and Shetland Islands. This is a 13 minute video/slide show of that trip that I've edited recently. I'm pretty happy with the soundtrack, but would appreciate any comments on it. Thanks

    Hi Bjorn,

Thank you, thank you for that lovely mini-vacation! I haven't had one in years, and this was honestly the closest I've come to actually feeling like I'm having a vacation away in ages.

The music was just lovely, beautifully played and soothing throughout.

I've always wanted to visit the Orkney Islands; in fact, I used to be able to tune in "Around Orkney" on internet radio while I painted and listened for hours just to hear the voices from there. (Unfortunately, I can't get it anymore.)

The scenery was just breathtaking - so rugged and real. The puffin was a last great treat; what a terrific photo!

Thanks a million for this beautiful refreshing journey, Bjorn. And, ahem, if you ever need a travel companion, you know, to keep you safe or something, if you're travelling there again, well .... :)

    Hi Laura
Thanks so much for the comments.  Since most submissions here are in the three minute range, I appreciate you taking the time to view the video.

And yeah, you really need to get away from it all once in a while. I had decided to travel to these islands pretty much on a whim and I'm glad I did. The photos and the music bring the experiences all back.

What a beautifully crafted video, must have taken you a long time to put together. The music was well set and I have to congratulate you on the clarity of the recorded instruments, well done

@biodiode  Thanks for listening and I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Yes, it took me quite a while to put all the video and photo images together and I really wish I had more.  Kind of makes me want to go back and do it again.

What a wonderful, uplifting journey you have just taken me on Bjorn, thank you! Despite living in Aberdeen for the past 20 years I've never made it to the Northern Isles. Beautifully made video, and expertly played music throughout, I absolutely loved it.

Really nicely done Bjorn, excellent photos and the music was relaxing and didn't detract from the visuals. I've been right to the North of the mainland but never to the Islands. Wouldn't want to live there, they get all kinds of weather thrown at them.

I have been waitng for the time to sit down and both watch and listen, that time came. The music compliments the photos perfectly.

As for your picture of the puffin in flight, it really is a brilliant shot!

Thanks so much for the nice comments. If I ever get over there again, I'll spend more time on mainland Scotland. The islands are beautiful, but the weather..

Thank you. When I was there even the locals were complaining about the weather.

Thank you.  I read a few Robert Burns poems to get the mood of the music.

I wasn't sure if I should post a lengthy video in this forum. I appreciate you taking the time to give it a listen.  That puffin picture was taken on a very windy rainy day and I was lucky to get it. The photo is featured on the website of the hotel where I stayed btw.

Excellent video Bjorn.  It took me away on holiday for a few minutes.  The music was perfect for the images.
