Other than music.....
What's you 2nd or 3rd favourite hobby? (meaning......without DAWs or instruments etc...)
Growing up, I played a lot of sports for school as well as recreationally (soccer, cricket, tennis, chess, racquetball, B-Ball etc...), so being very competitive in nature, I'd most enjoy joining a cricket team. However, that's a big commitment and my children still being small, I'll have to wait until they're a bit older where they also could (possibly) appreciate it to some degree.
Since I built my PC 2 summers ago, I totally enjoy playing video games (possibly because I didn't play much...if any.....when growing up) and with all the PC technology available, the gaming experience is very enjoyable . Genereally, I like to play against other people/teams online and compete in a not so serious environment....like Team Fortress 2. No way am I even close to what some of these real "gamers" online are (they've taken playing video games to a whole new level) and is much more than I ever care to be in. Still, I can easily enjoy spending a good afternoon playing online games.
I suppose, this is currently my 2nd hobby........what's yours?

In the summer it's golf and boating. I bought a boat last summer and have it docked so that I can just drive over, untie it and I'm out on the water in minutes.
In the winter I read a lot. That and chase my much younger wife around. If she'd tired, not paying attention, and I get a running start, I can catch her about 1 out of 10 attempts. Unfortunately, when I do catch her, I'm just so tired from the running start that I generally just let her go about her business while I stand there bent over and gasping.

In the summer we enjoy camping. Just recently got my ham radio license and that is starting to look real interesting!

It's actually quite hard to come up with something that's totally un-related to music, because it occupies a very large part of my life one way or another.
Reading, I suppose. I love books and try to read a bit every day.
Watching series with my wife on her day off.
Working out - though that's associated with music because that's where I do a lot of my music listening.
Playing with our cats.

Shooting, at local and national level. I'm in the county team.
Ham radio, though not as much as I used to.
Bike club member, I'm entertainment officer which basically means I run sound at our events and book the acts.
I used to play video games when I was younger but I can't keep up with them now. Unless it's Kerbal Space Program, I'm addicted to that..

This:  Recreating a small railroad as it appeared in Southwestern Colorado in 1942. There is some degree of artistic license, but it is basically historically accurate. How's that for geekiness?

Photography. In the old days it was all analog, Kodachrome slides or B&W in a dark room. Like music creation it needs a lot less equipment and space in this digital ages.

That looks absolutely terrific Robertb! It looks like tilt shift photography of reality. Is the river actually running or some sort of modelling glue? My current life: work, socialising, music, reading ( books, blogs, forums), computer games ( inc chess and bridge) : in that order approximately. would like to place more emphasis on music production (myself and others) and have acquired a very solid country cottage for this purpose. Currently looks like resident evil 4 house but I have grand plans including perhaps the ability to run a vinyl plant. not overnight but it may happen.

I also enjoy playing chess & bridge.......mostly chess. I used to play daily on Yahoo Games (when they had the games section) and played 2-3 minute games as the results were always quick. Now I play a little bit at chess.com and the rest of the time on my Android (always against live opponents). I also used to play bridge on Yahoo and partnered my dad........he played at a very high level, but still enjoyed being my partner (me being an amateur). My brother & bro-inlaw also play, so everytime we used to get together for the holidays, we always had a fun time. Where do you play chess at Backwoods? Maybe we can play a quick game (online) one of these days?

I used to enjoy hiking, camping and boating. I used to enjoy going to the symphony. I used to like to travel. For a long time I spent my nights designing and building electronic gadgets and gizmos. For many years I maintained a garden.
I guess it's time for a new hobby. I'm thinking maybe something involving glue. Or snake-handling. I'm open to suggestions.

Trouble is, it's really expensive...

My main hobby is manufacturing customer serving units for shops.
