great video about an important topic. "this is still our planet - it's our only home", damn right, and the only home for our children too, but politicians seem to forget this fact on a daily basis... hey, and I liked the percussion here a lot. And after everyone on this forum is claiming I like to sound like Bowie - I heard some Bowie on the bridge here, right?

Tom, thanks for your kind words. As a matter of fact, I'm a big Bowie fan from way back. I give credit to Superior Drummer for the beats, though I added some bass drum myself.

Excellent! I like the song quite a bit. Alas, the message will fall on deaf ears. Maybe a bit mid rangy though. It's funny you would post this song though. I posted a song with a very similar topic, "Sacrifice", but mine is and angry song. Well done! I enjoyed it.

Having worked in the environmental field for over 35 years, I can really appreciate this number. The lyrics are great and the music gives this message the sense of urgency that it needs. Can you believe that there are still people who deny global climate change? The recently released summary of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Physical Science assessment will eventually have over 1,000 scientists and experts on this topic providing a peer review on research that has already been published (the IPCC does not do its own research but compiles and draws conclusions based on a multitude of already published, peer reviewed research). This 5th report is more firm on its conclusion that human activities are exacerbating the problem and indicates that there is more of an urgency to address the problem. I suggest that people go to the IPCC website and download a summary of the report. Great song and a great post.

@guitarpima-Robert, thank you for having a listen and your kind words. I wasn't sure about the mid range because I now mix for laptops and earbuds, as well as monitors. @Freddy J-I, too, work in the environmental field for over 30 years, and this topic has been on my mind a lot, lately. I'm glad you posted with all the information that you did. If only a few will take the time to look into this topic, they will be amazed. Thank you for your time and wise words.

Hi Walt, thanks for having a peek. I just googled free video clips and free public domain videos, and this is where I found them. There are many good sites out there. Except for the bass drum, the percussion came from the Latin percussion pack for EZ Drummer.

One of your best Lynn. But I have a couple of questions WRT warming. Q1: Why is it that the north poll was a shallow sea 65 million years ago at the end of the Jurassic era? (read, no ice cap) Q2: Is it warmer now than it has been in the past before modern man? (nope, not by a long shot) And here the kicker :-) Q3: Why are the ice caps on Mars getting smaller? SUVs? (Nope...) No disrespect, again one of your best, just think about the questions raised, and there are many more. But I limited it, brevity is the soul of wit ;-)

Robbie, I appreciate you taking the time to view this, and I appreciate your comments. In regard to warming - I graduated from KU in '75 with a major in physical geography and a minor in geology. Even then this subject was controversial. I was taught that global warming was happening, though, there were numerous reasons for the cause. I was also taught that some scientists believed that we're still in the last ice age, just that right now, we're living in an interstice of the ice age. There have been four major advances of the ice and four retreats. As for Q1, the north pole wasn't in its present position, and the atmosphere was radically different. There was little free oxygen to protect the earth from UV and other space related causes. Plus, there was much more vulcanism then, and the surface of the earth was hotter. Q2 was just answered. As for Q3, there are many more SUV's than you realize on the surface of Mars. Thanks for the thought provoking questions which really have no definitive answer. Thus, I avoided assigning blame for global warming; I merely point out that it's happening. I usually err on the side of caution, and if humans have anything to do with it, then we have the power to affect change.

Thanks for the video advice Lynn. I'm always afraid to download stuff and use it in my own work, or make cover songs. I worry about legal attacks. But after your comment I googled a bit and found there is quite a lot of public domain stuff available, way more than I thought there would be. A lot of it is junk, and it can be hard to find the thing you're looking for, but you proved with your video that it can be done. So you've turned on a new lightbulb in my brain. Thanks Lynn. :)

@ Clint- thanks for your comments! You'd be amazed at what you can do with Sony Vegas. Your music is a natural for this. @ ralphwiggum - thanks for your reply. I enjoyed listening to your songs, too. @ champchas - I appreciate your comments. I've enjoyed your blues numbers that you've posted here and hope to see more. @ Robbie - thanks, pal. You caught the spirit. @ Walt - thanks again. I'd love to see what you can do with your music. It took several hours to mine through all the chaff, but they are there if you have the time to look for them.

James, thanks for taking the time. I like the chorus in this one, too. Talk about rewrites! Originally, this song was called "My Shadow", but the lyrics were so bad that I was compelled to write new ones. The melody is a little low in my range, but it came out OK after doubling and tripling it, I hope.

Very nicely done video Lynn and a wise song with an important message! The balance is very good with a nice warm bass sound. The synth melody, was it a "Melodyned" guitar part? I like the strength when the guitars come in, but where is the childrens choir? Good work!

@ leizer - Thanks for listening to my song. A children's choir would have been ideal for this song. Where were you when I was mixing this? You're right about the guitar solo being "melodyned". I merely dropped the guitar solo into a MIDI track and within seconds it turned into MIDI notes. I panned it opposite the guitar, put Zeta + 2 on it, and voila! @ Ben - It's good to see you back on the forum. Thanks for taking the time and responding. I really do like your latest.
