Out of Memory, please help [SOLVED]

I am attempting to import an MP3 file into Sonar X1.  It is 4.62mb.  When I attempt this, I get an out of memory error message.  I restarted Sonar and tried again and got the same message.
 
Is it possible that Sonar can't handle the file, or am I getting a message that has to do with my computer's memory (I doubt it).
 
I have a session with the client tomorrow (1/23/14) and need to get this done or call him and say that my software can't handle it.

It has to do with the type of file.  Use an external program to convert it to a wave file, and it should import fine.  Others may have additional info - there are different kinds of encoding, and some MP3 files don't play well in Sonar, so when that happens to us, we just convert and import and it works with no additional problems.

Great minds think alike.  I just got through importing it into SoundForge, exporting it as a WAV, and importing into Sonar.  Thanks for the fast response.  This is a good thing to know, I am beginning to do a lot of voice overs and I believe that people will be sending me MP3's.

You are correct - it is fixed in X3d - the OP is running X1d, so I gave him something that would work for that release.
 
To the OP, come on and upgrade to X3d - you will not be disappointed with it.  :)

There have been some system-specific issues, one of which ended up being a bad motherboard, but the general consensus of what I have observed in the forum is that the X3d release has been one of, if not THE, best releases in a long long time.
 
Even the system-specific issues were largely resolved, to the best of my knowledge, and were things like out of date C++ components from not running Windows Update, or not using Run As Administrator, or forgetting to suspend antivirus software while installing Sonar.
 
Yes, there are some bugs, and some features that folks hope get some attention moving forward, but most folks seem quite happy and productive with X3d, which you can see with both tone and substance with forum threads.
 
X3d has some really really nice features - nothing to be afraid of.  On top of the software, the folks here in the forum have been VERY good at helping folks who have trouble getting things going, and are a SOLID asset.  Cakewalk itself has also been extremely helpful in their maintenance approach with X3 - with 4 maintenance updates released so far, and at LEAST one additional one coming at some point.
 
For stability, features, peer assistance, and aggressive maintenance, you really can't beat X3d.
