Why? Since nothing will be fixed in X3e it would be bound to be contentious among non-upgraders. Makes sense to focus on the new Sonar platform for problems and bug fixes no?

i did read the last post and was surprised that it was locked, as i would have just bumped it it would be a shame to lose all the useful user-contributed info that prompted the "problem reports forum" especially when they all comply with the requirements (steps to reproduce, cwbr number)

How is that relevant to X3? Whether or not they are fixed in 2015 should be discussed in the latest, current problem reports thread, imo. Not like anyone is preventing anyone from posting saying "problem in x3 still not fixed in Platinum" etc. Not sure why that should be problematic. Can still reference the now closed X3e thread

they were outstanding pre-2015 so it's useful to know if they're fixed in 2015 whatever version name they give it, it's still an evolution of the immediately previous version

So discuss them in the relevant 2015 thread.

there is no "relevant 2015 thread" so the point is to persist these detailed reports, especially now there's a specific forum for it - they're not just magically fixed because it's a "new version" i haven't "jumped aboard" yet so can't check myself, and therefore i'm interested to know on a side note i'm genuinely surprised alex seems happy to just let it die

Yes but the fact is that the specific thread refers to X3e, and originated largely due to Alex's (cakeAlex, now Splat's) efforts. Continuing in that thread would, imo , create unnecessary confusion and animosity with respect to bug fixes in a former version. Given the bs that Splat put up with as an administrator (and all administrators are faced with to varying degrees), i am guessing he would not be as inclined to jump into the fray to restart his efforts for the new version. Just guessing, i don't know him, etc. Maybe some kind person would be gracious enough to lead that effort, but from the outside it looks like a thankless job that is bound to result in all kinds of criticism. In any case, the old thread, as i said previously, can still be linked to, so as users are reporting their new problrm reports they can reference the old thread.

This really should get moved to the forum discussion forum... whatever... My X3E thread is not relevant to these forums. However the threads it links to in the first post may or may not be. In the problem reports forum it is.... 1) One thread = one bug.... So immediately you can see why it shouldn't live here. 2) Validated issues only. Well these have only been validated in X3E not Platinum. I had moved a few threads which which got validated in Platinum. As I wrote on the last post of that thread: On each thread... * If the issue still exists in Platinum please write "Validated in Platinum". You can then PM me and I'll move it across to the "problem reports" forum. Although to be honest PM'ing me now probably not the best course of action, you should PM a host (I should have been more generic when I wrote that, I didn't consider my future situation). Observations are correct I'm afraid - I'm no longer particularly motivated, but that's got nothing to do with what I've written above. If others who have the time, who are more motivated than I am, could validate these issues pointed by that thread then they would get moved across one by one I'm sure. Otherwise it's just a simple record of X3E bugs which is also fine. We don't need a thread any more we have these forums, if this ends up being well maintained rather than being cluttered up with troubleshooting threads or locked/moved placeholders it will be just as good if not better. What would be helpful is that this forum gets renamed, I have tried to make it happen but all efforts so far have come to nothing. The naming of this forum has been a nightmare and extremely painful from the very start both externally and internally, I've had a huge number of misunderstandings I personally had to deal with. Cheers...

I've just gone through all the threads here for one last time, and there was a whole load if threads I've asked hosts to move/rename subject titles/freeze. I even went as far as reporting them. No action was taken. Not only that I'm feeling a little resentment as though I shouldn't be doing this from comments in other forums. So really from my perspective it's just too much of an uphill struggle to continue without permissions to do what I need to do, I can't be expected to keep chasing people around the garden path. As I don't want to be a host again (rather just a validator) I guess I'm out of luck. All things must come to an end. I've done this job for too long and it doesn't get made any easier (it's been made harder). Handing over the baton...

I'm still absolutely amazed this thread is still in this forum (we now have troubleshooting, discussions, enhancement requests -yada yada), and several locked placeholders. It's not being recognised that it's really important to keep this forum clean (guess most people don't understand QA or how developers work). It's a mess for a validated bugs only forum.. Did better on my thread single handedly... Nevermind the complaints will soon stop... 25 posts to go.

Splat is probably correct that his herculean effort to maintain that thread was not the optimum way to list confirmed bugs in X3. On the other hand the many users or X3 who have not yet discovered the unfixed bugs listed there, or the unfixed bugs that never surfaced there, will undoubtedly miss it when it ultimately disappears. Instead of spending hours trying to make something work as described, it is a great relief to learn that it simply does not work, not just for you, but for everyone. Even better if someone posted a workaround. X3e will be the current version of Sonar for hundreds or thousands of users for some years to come. Certainly if Splat has moved on to the latest version he should not be expected to oversee the X3e problems. And there is little incentive for Cakewalk to maintain such information in readily available form as they transition to an always current model. That does not mean that there is not a present and future need for the kind of information found in his excellent thread.

I always appreciated Splat's efforts and obvious time spent gathering and organizing all the information on bugs for X3 . . . but it's true, the software moves on, the development of X3 is over, the bug fixes for X3 are in Platinum and the new versions. Now we get bug fixes every month, so bug organizing threads may be a thing of the past. Nevertheless, last year, it was a thread that garnered a lot of interest and lively discussion on this forum. Time will tell if the new ownership model and new forum structure will change the nature and content of this forum, as well as how lively the discussions will be.
