Overpayment ( RESOLVED )
So I finished my initial 12 monthly payments for Sonar Platinum and purchased an additional years subscription with a one-off payment at the offer price that was emailed to me. I'll be taking up the lifetime upgrades option shortly... BUT...I've just noticed that Cleverbridge are still taking almost £12 a month from my Paypal account - just checked back and this has happened twice now since my monthly payments should have ended. I guess the only thing to do is contact them directly, which I'll be doing tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of payment error...?

That link takes me to my account page which clearly states that I'm paying annual and that my Membership is valid through March 28, 2017. Additionally the ammount being deducted now bears no relation to my previous monthly figure. The point is that I DID change to annual. These deductions are clearly in error...

As you can see... Monthly deductions should NOT be occuring.

When you changed to annual, did you cancel the monthly payments? This does not happen automatically, you need to cancel the monthly membership yourself.
This is what I did when I went from monthly to annual back in January 2016. I used the link that was in the 12th monthly bill to do the cancellation (after I made the 12th payment). I also noticed that the 13th monthly bill, had I not gone annual, would have been different (It would have actually been more)
Can you find a monthly bill. There will be a link in there that you can use if you need to cancel your monthly membership and hence stop future ones. I am not sure what you do about the monthly bills you have already payed while on annual. Maybe you need to contact Cleverbridge directly for that one.

Well I thought I had, although why it should be necessary is another matter since Cakewalk clearly know that I made an annual payment and changed my account status to reflect that fact. I will contact Cleverbridge today ( an international call for me ), but I too will be interested to know what can be done about the overpayment...

They (Cake and Cleverbridge) could make it so that the subscription does not continue automatically unless you initiate a renewal. Why they don't is anyone's guess.

The info on this page is accurate - thanks everyone for jumping in. If you have a monthly membership and switch to annual, you do need to CANCEL the monthly membership (after you make the annual purchase) or you will continue to be charged. The reasoning for this is complicated, but it ensures you get the best pricing possible.

Well at the time of taking up the discounted annual offer ( which was time - limited ) I still had two payments to make on monthly subscription before I owned the software, so I don't see how it could have been cancelled then. My account status showed monthly membership until the twelve payments were made, at which point it changed to annual - so i didn't expect any problem. As far as I can see this requirement to cancel isn't clearly or prominently explained. It certainly wasn't pointed out when I purchased an annual membership that I needed to cancel monthly payments, and it's obvious that the system recognises an annual payment was made. So what will happen about the two unnecessary payments that I've made?

Thank you! I should add that I'm very happy with my decision to move to Sonar and rolling updates have already exceeded my expectations - will be purchasing lifetime upgrades very soon...

I had the same problem when I switched to the Lifetime Subscription. They continued charging me for the monthly subscription. If the subscription plan is not automatically switched over, there should be a notice or warning in big red letters saying "WARNING: You need to cancel your monthly subscription when changing to a yearly or lifetime plan"
Perhaps it does say that somewhere in fine print, but apparently I'm not the only one that missed that piece of information. A rather important piece of information, I would say.
Lee Shapirowww.soundclick.com/leeshapiro Welcome BandLab and thank you for giving Cakewalk and Sonar a new lease on life.

Hi there! I need some Clarification. (Also posted in another thread)
I am currently a monthly subscriber, I have made 6 payments so far for Sonar Platinum, meaning I do not own it yet. So my question is: If I purchase the Lifetime Updates (€204). Would I still have to keep paying for the monthly fee for the next 6 months or can I cancel that subscription?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am fairly sure that if you purchase the Lifetime Updates (€204), you would not have to pay the monthly payments for the remaining six months. However, after making the purchase of the lifetime updates, you will need to cancel your monthly membership - the cancellation of your monthly membership is not automatically triggered by your purchase of the lifetime updates option. To do the cancellation of your monthly membership, find your most recent (6th) monthly bill email. In that email, there will be a cancellation link for you to follow. Someone from Cakewalk might like to confirm or correct this.

Thanks a lot Promidi for your quick reply. Yes It will be great to have a confirmation from Cakewalk or from someone in the same situation. Guyl
