P5.1 record audio?

OK,

I have P5.1 for a little over a year and 1/2 now, and I hate forums. Looking like an idiot blows, but I paid for the thing..........

I have seen post's that state you can record audio (vocals) from an input, (sound card or out board, though P5 hates my fireface 800. So I stay with the SoundBlaster (just basic recording). Sonar 4 Pro doesn’t mind the fireface)

Can I record audio using the groove player or do I need something else. And if so, how? What am I missing, the posts I search don’t explain.

Thanks.

Hi TjTisTru,,,, don't worry about posting in THIS forum,,, people are pretty nice here!

Unfortunately, Project 5 version 1 doesn't support direct audio recording. It was added as a feature to Project 5 version 2. In order to record audio, you would have to upgrade to version 2.

Project 5 version 1 does allow you to import audio though. It's pretty lunky, but it might work for some uses. There is also the option of rewiring version 1 into a host that supports audio recording, such as Home Studio or Sonar. HTH

    Thank you,

I figured as much. But I was hoping. So mix down. Open in Sonar and record vox’s.

The learning curve from analog tape to dig is a mug. But I knew it would take a year or more. So “lifeless” sounding. I use the P5 for arrangements. Nobody to “B” about the set up time or lack of volume on his or her monitor. : )

Just moved to Austin TX, and upgrade is not poss at this time.

.... or lack of volume on his or her monitor
change the 'justify' setting under options/audio. it is automated in sonar but not p5
