PC4K S-Type Expander Gate 1.01 not available
Hi, I'm trying to download the PC4K S-Type Expander Gate 1.01 update, but when I log into my account there's no download link for that product. I was able to download the 1.01 version of the PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor. Is anyone else having the same problem? Thanks, Sergio

Yes, I found it in with Expanded as well. I downloaded and installed and it seemed to load up fine. I into PC to make check if it's there, but I don't see any way to tell. If I right click on the Channel Compressor, I get an "about" that tells me the version (1.01), but that doesn't seem to work for Expander/Gate. I assume it's updated, but can't tell for sure...

Hi Everyone, Version 1.0.1 of both the PC4K S-Type Expander Gate and PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor are indeed available. In fact, they are now the only versions available. I can't foresee anyway for you folks to accidentally (legally) obtain version 1.0 at this point without someone from Cakewalk sending you a direct link to the old build, so it's pretty safe to say if you just re-downloaded it you got the latest version. If you need to confirm which version you are on, you can always check the .dll properties. Try navigating to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\PC4kGate or C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\PC4K S-Type Comp, right-clicking over the .dll file contained within and selecting "Properties". The Details Tab should say File version 1.0.1. If it says version 1.0, you're not updated. Depending on if you purchased your modules with anything else, your downloads may appear in a different area of your account. For example if you purchased a ProChannel module as part of a bundle with SONAR X1 Expanded, then both your PC module and Expanded downloads might be grouped together under the “SONAR X1 Expanded” download link or something similar. Click around your account download links if you can't locate them. If they are absolutely not listed anywhere, let us know and we'll get your account sorted out. I'm sorry for any confusion. Sorry, but it is not too clear for me: for PC4KExpGate.dll I get version 1.0.0.23, and for PC4KSChanComp.dll I get version 1.0.0.9898981111989898 (really!!!) I can found in my account download links for PC4K Expander / Gate (inside Sonar X1 Expanded) and for PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor (as "stand alone"). Should I download again those files and install them another time? Thank you. Giorgio

PC4K Compressor = File version :: 1.0.0.23 PC4K Compressor = Product version :: 1.0.0.9898981111989898 PC4K Exp/Gate = File version :: 1.0.0.23 PC4K Exp/Gate = Product version :: 1.0.0.9898981111989898 So what you're saying is that the version # should show :: 1.0.0.1 instead of :: 1.0.0.9898981111989898 ? What did I miss? I'm on Sonar Producer Expanded v434. Thanks jc Note: Checking my account for said files... Doh! Just saw the sticky thread about the updates dated 02/01/2012... I have two versions of the PC4K Exp/Gate. One is here: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\PC4kGate that one is 1.0.1 the other one is with the rest of the ProChannel stuff at: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Components\Shared Utilities\Internal\PC4kGate that one is 1.0.0 I can't tell which one gets loaded because there is no version number on the display (is there?)

Yes, Firefox. I looked at some internally loaded dlls and when I add the expander, it shows that the path is the one to the older 1.0.0 gate, not the new gate.

Actually, according to the HTML spec - user agents are supposed to swallow up white space characters like new line, tab, etc. when a user makes text entry. It's just so rare that one finds a tool that actually does that.

I know, respecting HTML specifications is an "afterthought" for some developers. Opera is way up there as far as the respect goes, I've noticed. But using Firefox in these forums is just about impossible.

Now I'll use Chrome to get a better format. As I posted, I have two version of the PC4KGate. The latest update created a new folder and it appears to be the wrong place. The older ProChannel stuff are loaded at: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Components\Shared Utilities\Internal and my registry setting confirms that path: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST X64\VSTInternalPath] "C:\\Program Files\\Cakewalk\\Shared Components\\Shared Utilities\\Internal"="C:\\Program Files\\Cakewalk\\Shared Components\\Shared Utilities\\Internal" The update made the folder: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\PC4kGate note the missing ' Shared Components' folder setting. I think the update installer has a mistaken path in it. When I load a new project and the gate and then look at the loaded DLLs I see the old DLL is loaded, not the newer one.

"arachnaut" I think the update installer has a mistaken path in it. I'm just about to update so I'll be in a better position to confirm if I get the same results. Surprised that nobody else has noticed this before though. The updates have been up for almost a month now. "arachnaut" When I load a new project and the gate and then look at the loaded DLLs I see the old DLL is loaded, not the newer one. Backup the registry folder containing the key with the wrong path, then edit the path to reflect the new location and give it a whirl. And I don't see any problems in deleting the old version once you've made sure things are good, IMHO.

I always check my backup files after an update. Here is what I see today (you can view this image in a new window to make it bigger - it's quite large):

There are other registry keys involved as well - the hive machine keys for the Gate are also wrong, so I think I'll wait a little while until I hear back from Cakewalk on my trouble ticket. Some of the other ProChannel stuff have registration codes and serial numbers in their entry and this one doesn't, etc., etc. I'm used to making changes to the registry, but I want to do it right.

"arachnaut" The updates I installed were dated Feb 1, 2012. Ya, my bad... got mixed up with the day and month. I just went through the updates (had 3 of them) and, the original installation location was respected. The new versions (DLLs) now read: 1] PC4K Channel Compressor :: v1.0.1.37 2] PC4K EXP / Gate :: v1.0.1.28 3] PCCL :: v1.0.1.64 Don't know what to make of your issue, which is interesting to say the least. Let us know what happens.

Alegria Let us know what happens. Since it looks as if my case is unique for some reason - at least so far no one else has encountered this - I decided to go on and do something. I checked my last full registry backup - and it had the correct path for PC4K gate, not the one that got installed today in the update. So I renamed all the old stuff and copied the new stuff to the old places and fixed the various registry settings and rebooted. The registry checker reported things are OK, Sonar looks good, the right files are loaded, so I guess I'm good. Still, the uninstaller probably has some bad paths saved in it, so I worry that on another update I might face this again. But I'll figure that out if I have to.

My link date for Sonar X1 Expanded remained the same, and also Concrete Limiter. But I did get a new date on Welcome Kit 2! So I just checked through all the downloads. Unfortunately, they don't have version numbers or dates, so I just clicked on them all and rejected the oldest.

Well, Cakewalk uses the INNO install/uninstall - so the stuff is in a .DAT file. Not much I can do about that unless I run INNO's tools and I don't feel like installing them for this 'problem' - there's only about 5 files involved...
