PCI Express Firewire Card

Hi everyone,

I'm replacing my motherboard and the new board I chose won't allow me to use my PCI firewire card (my SLI video cards cover the slot).

I'm thinking a PCI Express firewire card with the TI chipset would do the trick. My new board, the MSI P7N Diamond has a firewire controller but it's not TI.

Should I wait and try the new motherboard's firewire, or just jump to a PCI Express card?

thanks!

I've been using my onboard firewire for video and audio with no problems. So I would say try it first before spending money you may not need to spend.

    Thanks for the input guys.

I read some old threads where PCI Express firewire was getting panned. Those were a few years old though - I would think things would be better now. I need to be able to record at least 14 audio tracks at 44KH without a problem. I am able to do that with my PCI firewire card with a TI chipset.

Does anyone have a specirfic card recommendation?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

bitflipper - that card in the link is PCI, not PCI Express. I'll have to see if ADS makes an Express version.

    thanks,

ADS does indeed make a PCIe TI chipset FW controller.

Thanks guys. The specs for the PCIe version don't specifically state Texas Instruments, but the PCI version does. I'll order on faith and hope for the best. :)
