PCI USB card better?

I have a PCI  USB card and was wondering if anybody can advise if this would be better than using motherboard USB ports?

I have never seen anything suggesting that one  USB port location is better than the other.  If that were the case, you can be assured you'd routinely find advise on this forum that that's the type of port you should plug your USB MIDI into.  I've never once seen that suggestion made here.

You'd gain nothing by doing so...
    Certainly no performance gain.

Thanks everyone, The reason I asked is it's what I have been using believing it's an upgrade from motherboard ports. I think I bought the card for an PC that had USB 1.1 to upgrade to 2. I have a PCI firewire card but its 10 years old so I imagine outdated. Soon we will have USB 3 to deal with.

Be sure and check your bios settings to ensure the USB level doens't default to USB 1.x.  Depending on how old your MB and bios version is, that could be a possibility.  Even if the new card is 2.0, a bios setting could restrain it to using 1.x.  At least I ran into something like that a couple of years ago.

you got that right, His desktop right now is a quad core ?? 4 Gig of RAM it looks like a home stereo component, water cooled... I'm patient..
He has wasted to much money on laptops lately, Bought a Dell that will work perfectly for everything but DAW, couldn't get his money back because that's impossible to explain to the people at Dell,

Person with problem-"Hey I bought this laptop from you and it's spiking latency even after I shut down all but bare bones"
Dell rep- " You did what to it? "
Person with problem- " I shut down unnecessary processes trying to stop it from spiking in dpcat but it's still got issues" " I want to trade it for a different model, maybe an upgrade"
Dell rep- " What did you say was defective with your computer? "
Person with problem- " Well nothings wrong with the computer but I can't use it for what I bought it for the way it is!"
Dell rep- " What are you trying to do with it?"
    PWP- " Record my band"
Dell rep- You should be able to use the sound recorder found in accessories to do that. \"
PWP- "Hmmm- I just want my money back or a trade"
Dell rep- I'm sorry sir but if there's a problem with your Laptop you must send it in to us for repair. This is very easy to do.
PWP- You' promise to fix this problem?
DELL- Yes if we can't fix the problem, then we will replace it.
PWP- I don't want that same model back- it doesn't work.
DELL- We will fix it. please send it in with detailed explanation of what is not working.

    1 month later-
PWP - I just got my computer back and it's still behaving the same way?
DELL- We are sorry about that sir and will gladly fix your problem,Please return it to us so we can service it.
PWP- I just paid $1,400 for this thing and I haven't had it for a month and now you want it for another month? !

PWP- Hello Future Shop? Have you got any of those Acers  you have on sale for $599?
