PDC
Here's a question, how often do people use PDC?
I keep forgetting to use it.
I wonder if it would be a good idea in preferences to have an option to disable recording unless PDC is switched on (nb an option :)

Perhaps you mean to say that you are forgetting to live input PDC override the PDC? http://www.cakewalk.com/D...;Req=Recording.23.html It's great to be able to take PDC for granted... if it wasn't on all the time it would be a pain to do over dubs. best regards, mike

PDC is always on unless specifically over ridden, and then only on live input tracks. Personally I've never needed to over ride it but then I don't use a huge amount of soft synths.

I never even think about PDC because it's always on.

I used to turn it off if I was tracking and experiencing latency.
Then I realised that it was always the same plug ins causing it. Either look ahead plugs like the CL, or CPU intensive ones like Perfect Space. The LP64 plugs were another.
Now, I simply disable those specific plugs if I run into problems, and all is fine, so no need to disable PDC.
Remember, when the button is lit, PDC is disabled on live input tracks, when it is grey, it is enabled.

+1 to everything above. For me, the PDC button is simply a "safety net" for when the project starts to bog down but I need lower latency... and I don't want to start disabling plugins. Pretty rare occurance, but nice to know it's available. For the remaining 95%+ of the time, I'm more than happy to not mess with anything.
