PLEASE CAKEWALK - ONLY MEMBERS IN THIS FORUM

Cakewalk you are starting to lose credibility.

Reading some of the recent rants on here - this is getting very unclassy.

Many of the individuals that post on this forum have never (ever) purchased a CW product, that in itself should be enough for CW to open their eyes/ears to this GREAT forum.

I can say that 95% of the people that come here are good people that need some help - they need some advice from fellow CW users. There's a bunch of really smart/knowledgeable people on here that will go out of their way to help other members. And isn't that what this Sonar Forum was intended to do?

But some individuals seem to come on here - rant, rave, and because they cannot find an answer to their problem immediately - they seem to go nuts with insults, etc. This should not be tolerated by anyone here. We're all here to learn or to help - or both! This should be fun.

Why not make your CW Sonar Forum for registered users. This is obviously the simple answer to the question - why is so much stupid stuff happening here recently? I do realize that you put your demo versions on the web to entice individuals to look into Sonar - with the hopes of landing another customer - that's great business sense. But with no registration or commitment by anyone on here this nonsense will continue.

But what about the current/loyal Cakewalk customers that are getting very tired and annoyed by reading insulting comments on this otherwise great learning tool called Sonar Forum.

Hopefully somebody from Cakewalk (Inc) reads comments here. Like I stated earlier - 95% of the people here are good people that really want to learn your computer software and assist them in creating better tunes. It's that other 5 % that Cakewalk should clean up to make the Forum and better place to come to.

    Heat isn't the issue. (nprime)

If you are a registered CW member and have purchased some of their products - don't you think that you deserve a better Sonar Forum without all of the BULLS**T?

It really annoys me to hear stuff like that.............yeah lets just roll over and accept it cos it will never change. CHANGE IT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody here needs to listen to idiots rant/scream cos they have no consequences if they do rant/scream.

Has anyone got a backbone? This Forum (I've already said this) is for learning and fun - NOT unregistered idiots that have nothing better to do.

I know why you want the idea... but it won't work.
THE single-most negative DAW forum I've been to, with continuous unnecessary bashing and aggression and worthless bickering... was the REGISTERED-user-only Steinberg forum.
It's not exactly the same negativity you get here, but in the end you just trade one type of negativity for another.

Besides... humans... in anonymous form... are ALWAYS unclassy, in my humble experience and opinion.
This is who/how we really are. You can't escape it.

As a recent Sonar P8 purchaser, I can tell you that this forum was valuable in helping me to arrive at a decision to make that purchase. I was able to get answers to one or two (what I thought at the time) were important concerns. If only owners were allowed to post, that would not have been possible.

At times I've thought that may be a good idea. But just to play devils advocate...

    1. You can filter what you read. There's no reason you have to get upset about what someone else posts. Just move along.
    2. Cakewalk will do what is best for them. I'm sure they have a reason why it is open.
    3. There are benefits to an open forum. The opposite would be a strictly monitored forum where any negative posts about Cakewalk get pulled, whether valid or not.

However, at time I do think it help pirates get free support.

Oh well, my 2 cents. Or should I say my 580 characters (with spaces).

Cakewalk you are starting to lose credibility.

It may help YOUR credibility to note that our hosts have moved one thread such as this to the coffee house today already and that whilst many understand your sentiments don't share your views on the solution.

You can always block who you don't want to see too.
I really don't think members only forum would help people like dmbaer and me.

it can be frustrating but i just get a cup of coffee and relax and wait for help when needed.

    I luv my coffee.

Would you be happy if we applied a Pelosi style "Fairness Doctrine" to this forum? Why don't we just ban everything including the 1st amendment while we're at it. I've got faith in the Mods here and they usually do a great job of moving stuff around and deleting spam type posts. If you ask a legit question here doesn't it usually get answered? If you don't want to read a thread then don't click on it! Problem solved!!!

striking yep even unwanted movie format converter spam

problem is what happens to idiots like me who ARE registered customers

hhmm.. if you go on other forums by various makers Thomas you get to a point where your either detured from posting as it's particularly long winded or you get some who just assume you should be using a product for hhm 5+ years and anything they may find simple is beneath them .hehe

Some sites, I don't bother with.. while others I'll just go on for the content (props refills).. even though they have things in place to stop unwanted users, they still are 100% at stopping them.. hhmm maybe some people actually switch DAW or got Sonar partly because of the forum.. who knows...

cake like to hear feedback about the forum as well as the products.. alas they didn't take my free 3 months world cruise as a viable option for platinum members

Believe me my friend, before this was called Sonar it was called by another name. I know. I was there. This forum is like browsing through a christian book store compared to that one. There are a few on here who remember that one, like Susan and some others. Those types of folk exist for only one purpose......to rile guys like you. Even among all that garbage back then, the ones who were sincere in both their craft and their demeanor seemed to rise above the muck. Remember the old saying, "Ignorance breeds contempt". There will always be some who will just never "get it". Even if you restrict access to "registered" users someone will hack that just to be a nuisance. I used to always wish I could be one of those that everybody knew and when one of the known ones would speak, someone would always answer with something personal. Just stick around awhile and when you speak, someone who knows what you're about will answer. The rest you can just laugh at because you'll recognize it for what it is. There are quite a few folk here who are very special without even trying to be. Learn who they are and you'll make beautiful music. Isn't that what it's all about? Remember, "Never let'm see you sweat".

HA! Rarely do the smiley faces fit so well with a post. May I suggest some ruffage in your diet?

But seriously, regarding your avatar - aren't you affraid of the TV people? I am affraid for you.

BTW - to the OP. This has always been a rough and tumble forum. I know some guys talk about others that are worse but I have never experienced those. I think a lot of folks just feel that it's part of what makes this forum interesting/appealing - you never know what someone is going to say. Took me a while to get used to it. But I agree with those who say that it is what it is and it would be wrong to change it. In the end though, you can always get fast and helpful responses to your issues - and that is what it's all about.

RE: PLEASE CAKEWALK - ONLY MEMBERS IN THIS FORUM 2009/02/20 21:53:54 (permalink)
Sony Vegas has a registered user only forum. It's a pretty boring place. The information is pretty good but there are about 30 really active members and then there are guys like me. The major players steer the conversation for the most part. I'm registered and occasionally get answers to questions or I just silently search. From the time I first purchased vegas 6 until now the forum is pretty dead. There are rumors of sony dropping the software and all kinds of stuff. Basically, I see the morale as low.

Contrasting the sony forum is one on dvinfo.com. Anyone can register and participate. It's pretty lively. There might be more noise compared to signal but I believe activity is important. Some people are members of both forums and some of those are big players at the sony forum. The dvinfo forum feels a little more open.

I think the temperament of the users is more of an indicator of what kind of people use and develop the software. If you don't want to be among the common folk then drop a dime and start your own forum. It might be a major success. Otherwise, I think an open forum is better for cakewalk. Negativity is negativity no matter how you might present it. Begging, griping or complaining about anything is negativity. In my mind your complaints about the forum membership requirements being too lax is going to read as negativity just as someone claiming their unregistered version is full of bugs. They are both downers.

Best of luck with your private user forum. I hope it works out. William

Boy isn't that calling the kettle black.... Would you not classify this as a rant/scream and unnecessary? IF you do a search this has been brought up many times for many years... like everyone has suggested ignore those people...
Paying/legit people do not like to be accused of things, which has happened in the past..pointing fingers and such......

But to be honest...topics like this clutter up the forum just the same as the trolls posts...Like you said...It's for learning and fun.....IF you, like the rest of us has paid and continue to Support Cake then why let it ruin your day....
I usually don't like to post unless I can help or I need to ask a question ( which is more than myself helping...lol..so I don't clutter up the forum with unneeded topics)...which is rare but I couldn't resist...

    Just my 2 cents...

uhhhh.... hate to break it to you, but most of the mundane babble on these forums comes from [GASP] "registered users".

    Guilty!

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Agreed.

I haven't had any problems in the forums here. Everyones been helpful, curtious, and humorous. Playfulness aleviates the stressers associated with the troubles that bring us here in the first place.

You should go to Wikipedia and look up the fairness doctrine so you'll actually know what you are talking about.
