I like this tune. Your daughter has that Bonnie Riatt vibe to her voice. I hate critiquing mixes, but I'll do my best. The piano seems more dominant on the left, sooo, I would take the crunchy guitar and bring that over to the right a bit for a nice sonic seperation. At times it sounded a little mid-rangy, but some slight eq'ing would fix that. Other than those minor tweaks, this is a very good song Larry! Good to have you back in these parts again bro'.

Jeeze, she has a great voice. Must be nice to have talent.

I think Larry summed it up nicely ... er... Larry.

cool song...the keys sound a tad bit behind you daughters voice on the chours...sounds like they could be slide up (forward in the mix NOT higher volume) a tad...but you girl did a great job. I'd also not have you vox so wet...sounds like it would do well to be a bit dryer. Love the work you guys did here! very well written song!

Sounds got via my monitor speakers. The piano ought to be a bit more centered and bit deeper in the mix. The vocals are sounding great! The rest of the mix sits nice and tight. I like the tune!

Great song, great voice, great mix! something about the bass I'm not fond of, don't know if you've got it running thru an amp or what, and that may be the sound you really want on it, if so, just ignore my comments. i'd have gone for something a little cleaner, tho.

    Sounds really good!

During the start of the song I thought the verb on the vocals was too short, and too wet. It's a nice verb to use, but I though it died unnaturally quickly and was just a little too saturated. Once the song got going though I thought it fit in very well in terms of decay time and wetness. Any longer decay and it would just get all muddy in the mix. Maybe some automation on it could even it out a little? Just an idea, but otherwise it sounds great! Good job! And I probably wouldn't be too fussed on that verb, if you like it like that, go with it, that's just what I would do.

Actually no, just listened again, would really like the wetness to go down a bit.. I think the decay time would sound fine with that wetness down, then bring it up a bit when the song gets going. Maybe cut some of the highs just a little bit with an eq shelving on the wet part of the verb. I think it's the highs that need a faster decay time, but the lows are decaying alright.

    Either way, good job!

Larry, a great song with wonderful vocals, good lyrics. A little busy in the chorus and I agree about the piano pan. Drums are terrible, where did you find those? A well written song.

    Hi all
Thanks for your helpful ears. I'll automate the verb, and sync the piano. I also found an out of sync spot in the vocal comps. The bass is supposed to be string bass, Beagle, kinda wanted it to start a bit cabaret and get more rock as it progresses. Tom the drums are sampletank and I kinda like the sterile drum charichature (sp?) especially the snare.
I thought about re- amping them , them had a real drummer over for some songs and he was cool but for this one I thought the obviously dry in the box thing may be a nice contrast to some other songs in the project. The congas are real, and last night I re- posted the song with some spots where the congas stick out more. Thanks so much everybody. I'll dial it in some more and bump the thread when that occurs.

OK I DID as many of the suggested tweaks as I could. I think the mastering process will do some good on sitting the lead vox into the tracks etc. If it's not too much trouble maybe re visit the song and see if it's better. Thanks again

Larry I didn't hear it before the changes but sure liked what I heard.
I think the mix showcases her voice and that's good.

Nice tune and vocals too.... I'd like to hear more deeper bass. The drums were a bit boring.

    Critique:
Musically::Very Very Nice. But, The congas didn't fit that genre of music, and they actually cluttered the track and conflited with the drum track. Vocalist pitch was impecible and her tone was great.

Mix.. Crazy that was just and awsome mix too. However, I thought there was a little too much reverb on the guitar. and when it went to a more rhythem feel instead of a rock feel, I thought that it could have been a little less reverb and then more panning proably would have worked. Nice placement of male background vocal in the mix...

What you did with the mix would have taken me a whole week to get it to sound half as good..
Please receprecate by critiquting one of my songs.. if I ever get one up

The reverb at the start sounds much better. I liked it like that, very good!

Didn't like that one random delay on the vocals though.. Sounded a little cheezy...

I am thinking maybe there is too much reverb on the vocals in the mix once it gets going now.. I know I said I liked it before, but there is definitely too much now (I don't know if you actually did change that or not.. I am listening to it on fresh ears now..). Hmm, maybe automation is not required, maybe just keep the verb as you have it at the start now...

Oh and I like the congas!

Good Song. Good vocals. She sounds a little nervous. Vocals are right out front. Some of the instrumental solos could come up front a little more for their duration nad then go back to mix level.
