<PLEASE HELP> BIG Problem with Yamaha YPG-635 and Driver... <PLEASE HELP>
I hope someone can help me out with this. I just got a Yamaha YPG-635 to use for a big project. Upon finding out it didn't use a standard MIDI-I/O, I switched to that wierd printer cable thing. So I'm using Windows 7 64x Bit. I have yet to install the drivers (32 bit or 64 bit), because my problem is that when I plug the keyboard into my computer, it doesn't give me a dialouge, no Windows Driver things like it should, nothing. Should I uninstall the installed MIDI drivers? I really don't know what to do. This is a REALLY big project, and this is the only keyboard we have a available, so if anyone could PLEASE help, I, or rather, WE would be very greatful. Thank you!

Edit: Forgot to mention that the 86x (64 bit) install gives me a 'The processor is not adequate...' error, and the 64x (32 bit) gives me an 'Error 25001'. Mind you, I'm on a quad-core AMD Phenom computer, so they should be FAR above adequate for running the driver.

weird printer cable thing? what in the world is that? the YPG-635 uses a USB connection for MIDI. plug a USB cable into the YPG-635 and the computer. actually - you should read the manual first because it will tell you if you should install the drivers first or if you should plug it in first - likely you install the drivers first, but not always.

we were typing at the same time - if you're getting an error from the install disk then go to the yamaha website and download the latest software for the YPG-635 and for YOUR operating system and install that.

Thanks for the quick reply, Beagle. I searched a lot through the manual ( I don't actually own this, and it didn't come with the original install disc) for the driver installation stuff, and I also step-by-step followed the driver installation-specific manual, both of which come to null. I've tried both versions of the driver for either OS (as I said earlier), plus I rebooted after removing every USB device besides the mouse, keyboard and instrument itself. I guess I'd be better off talking to the pros and stuff over at some Yamaha forum; I just figured it'd be quicker if I didn't have to go through the installation process for one question.

Meh.... We found a solution. Instead of sitting for hours in front of a computer screen, we decided to just go in and plug a USB flash drive into the slot on the back. Woks well enough for our needs. Thanks, Beagle, and for anyone who looked.
