PLEASE HELP!! LOST WAV FILES

Ahhhh I did some recording yesterday and when I was done it was all good. I even started to mix a little. Anyway in a brain storm today, I thought I would backup my projects and then move them to a different spot on my HD. Well you guessed it the wav files didn't move with the project file. Ok so I just copied them back. Nope I have lost everything. It cannot find any of the wav file even when I search them. I am running Windows 7 32bit with Sonar 7 Producer. Can anyone help me find these wav files? I don't know where they would have gone. Thanks.

Unless you use Per Project folders they will be in the default audio folder. Check your configuration to find out what folder that is. They will likely have names like Cxxxyyy12345.wav so you'll have to find the right ones and reassociate them with the project. Look at the file date to help figure out which ones they may be.

Open the global menu and check your file pathways, Like Dave say's the default is to  C-/cakewalk projects/audio data

What I always do is to open the template I will use, and before I record I will do a "Save As" and direct it to a new folder for the album or session.
I there is to be a running session I'll pre save each song using save as again and again naming each song. I can then open each blank song as we move along and it's ready to go. You can even open them all and just minimize each to the lower tray.

Aslo with the template make sure to name each track ( Bass/Guitar etc)) this way those wave files in the audio folder will be stamped with the correct names.
The whole session will be in one folder, audio and CWP icons. Then I drag and drop it to a back up drive. I can take it from my laptop to my desktop and everything is good to go.
For indavidual songs they get their own folder.
Sometimes I'll make an album ( session) folder and then save a sub folder within for each song.
The main point is -don't leave it to any software to organize your work. Files are never gone unless you erase them manually. They only become misplaced because you have not payed attention to where they were.

Thanks for the info Dave and Cactus. Yes I normally put every song into it's own folder. However this time I was rushed and didn't follow that proceedure. I hope the files are deleted as I did not manually delete these files. i have done a search for them but I still can't find them. I'm kinda at my witts end to where to look for them next. Could they be hidden files?

Just to re cap, You say you moved the what? The CWP file, The audio folder? If you move a CWP icon it becomes useless for audio, MIDI will still work. The Audio folder and the CWP icon need to be in the same folder. Once again did you check what your pathways are in the Global options menu "audio data". This will not change until you change it, so it should point to the place they were stored.
