I would go to Bitwig without a second thought if it supported time signature changes. Which it doesn't.

Now this (unknown to me) prediction is kind of true.

Purely hypothetical as SONAR/CW software would probably run for 10+ years even if they stopped development today.

That is quite spooky...

It certainly is. Looks like I may have to drag the old Fostex Protastudio out of the roof space after all

Just saw the current price of Cubase Pro and am hoping that Cakewalk continues outside of the Gibson group, or Windows does not break the current version for a long time to come.

OTOH, the writing on the wall wasn't exactly written in invisible ink. Unfortunately it's a product that's not the most popular contender in a mature market owned by a cash-strapped parent company.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I have a copy of Studio One 3 that I got with a Presonus purchase last year.  Sonar will do all that I do unless there is a Windows upgrade that Sonar no longer runs.  In that case Studio One 3 would be my choice.   I tried Pro Tools (MP9) and although many of my Nashville counterparts use Pro Tools, I hated it so it is out.

I've just upgraded my old 4.78 Reaper to 5.62

Might give it another go.

I may also download the Studio One 3 Pro demo...

Will someone let me know when the final latest version of SONAR goes on fire sale?
