Gotta love that funky groove! Do I hear cowbell? I really like how this song moves and I can't sit still while listening to this.... I'm not one for the mixing end of things, unless something was way out of whack. On a creative note, I was wanting to hear some higher notes to go along with the lower piano) in there , along with the other you laid down, but that's just me and it's your creation so.... maybe the bass line sliding into the upper registar at points.. but it's all good Kev! Good voice and lyrics! That deep piano sounds excellent. Gave this 2 listens so I could pick out all the instruments. Excellent!

Excellent Kev. I like the drums, but I think the snare overpowers your vox some - maybe your vox just need to be turned up a couple of dbs? I'm not sure. There was some nice piano work going on, but I couldn't hear it clearly at times. Same for the bass.

Just a suggestion, maybe double up your vox on the "Don't You Bring Me Down" line, to add more punch to that section.

A worthy addition to the Vox Box Studio collection - I really liked the guitar work and tones - especially the lines you're playing during the chorus. Lots of cool hooks in this one.

    Cheers,
    Doug

yea...very groovy! Had me head boppin...love the change-up line @ 114ish...and that "round/down" @ 139ish...man that works, brillant.your guitar track starting @ 310ish could use a slight nudge (forward) in the mix so it would be more on the leading edge of the mix...play w/that a bit it might give it a bit more bite and present itself a lil less lazy...not the whole lead of course...just that back end...

great tune brudda...really..you've really got a way and I always enjoy your tunes!!

Crisp snare tansients during intro and +. Excellent!

I might experiment a little and smear drums a bit more (some verb, varying LPF, or something) allowing the lead vox a little more of the air at times. But I'd hate to lose those enviable drum transients.

As always, your mixes are supreme, pristine, crisp, magnetic, and ROCK!

Everything sounded incredible. vEry nIce sOng. i would gild the lilly with some moraccas (spelling?) in the last verse but, i'm in therapy for over gilding. Happy New year.

    Kev

I'm absolutely adoring this groove, just nicely held off the beat like some sorta 'Trip Pop' I guess.

The low octave piano thing was really cool too, plenty of stuff that shows that you really listen to how things work, which gives you that really creative edge.

It's hard to know how far to take things production wise sometimes when you are just fleshing out ideas but what you have down here is plenty enough to showcase the great tune you've come up with. There is plenty of scope for further development there as others have already alluded too, but what a great song to have at your disposal.

    5 Stars from me.

    Hey Kev,

Nix what I said on the low octave piano, it sounds clear. I think I was expecting it to be up an octave or two when I first listened, but now that I listen again, it sounds cool the way it is.

I like the groove, definitely a good one.

Great tune, maybe your best one, but I think I liked 'Time' and 'Fallin' just as much, so it's a close call

    Cheers,
    Doug

Grooooooooovy, Kevin! Love the vibe and the low piano accents. Did you play triggers for the EZ Drummer? A couple of places the drums and rhythm guitar weren't quite in sync, but since this is a rough cut, no biggie. Wonderful harmony BGVs on the chorus. In the chorus before the guitar solo, I really missed hearing them.

This is a great creative start for the year, Kevin. All the best to you in 2009!

Nice! Really nice groove and great guitar tone. I'm listening on the small speakers, so it's hard to say much about the technical bits, but the mix sounds quite nice to the degree I can tell. I agree with some doubling or at least a bit of delay or something on the vocal in a few places. There's plenty of space in those parts for it.

Happy New Year to you too Kev,

I amazed at how well-defined everything is in this mix especially since most of it is in the lower part of the frequency spectrum. If I had a song like this, it would surely sound like mud, but you've done a great job on separation and clarity and keeping the groove of the song in the pocket.

    Hellooo Kev,

I had a listen to the 'remastered' while i was in town and it sounds great too. i prefer the first mix for its soul though. That killer piano and those woody fender guitar sounds are much more 'felt' in the first version FWIW. great tune!
