PRV Selecting Notes
I'm editing multiple midi tracks at the same piano roll. Sometimes I need to do lasso select some notes of focused track but Sonar selects all notes of all tracks at that area. I have 30 midi tracks at track pane and it's kind of pain to lock and unlock them one by one. Is there easy way to do lasso select of only focused track?

Hey Jackdied,
Are you A) actually editing all the 30 tracks or B) editing just some of them but you want to see all other tracks as a reference?
If A:
Why are you doing that? I normally edit just 1-5 tracks at the same time and when I want to edit more than one track I just select those tracks in the TV and then hit Alt+3 to open the PRV. And I use the Pick Tracks menu as necessary.
If B:
The only solution I can think of at the moment is you lock data of all clips that are on the tracks you don't want to edit before opening the PRV. Select all the tracks you don't want to edit and hit Ctrl+K (this will lock both clip position and clip data), then select all tracks and open the PRV. Now, in the PRV, there's no need to enable the Lock buttons of 29 tracks.
I hope someone else knows a better solution...

I'm writing orchestral music and put each articulations on different midi tracks for each instruments. For example: Viola sustain, viola legato, viola staccato, viola spic..
So I can see overall rhythmic and harmonic structure of song while writing. I'm doing your suggestion already. But a little "don't let the others to be edited" button would be great at track pane.

I like to keep all relevant PRV's docked in the multidock so they're all only 1 click away.
I also have another tab with all the different tabs staked together

You don't need to lock tracks to do this... just hide the tracks. Use the Tracks menu in the PRV to Hide All Tracks. Then click the musical note icon next to the track you want to select notes in and lasso the notes. Now when you use the Tracks menu to Show All Tracks, you'll see that only notes in that one track are selected. And to make this easier, you can set up keyboard shortcuts for the Hide All Tracks and Show All Tracks functions in Preferences. Scott -- Scott R. Thanks, Scott. I've never used the show/hide all tracks options in the PRV (don't know why) but I'll be using them, too. I'd still appreciate the button to lock all other tracks because I often want to see events of other tracks while editing the current track.

Try this tip I learned from Doyle Donahoo...regardless of how many tracks you have in PRV, deselect the one you want to edit and then hit v...that will be the only track visible/editable.

I think a feature request is about the best way to go for now. I tried to group all the lock buttons together in several ways and couldn't do it. It would be a good idea to have the ability to be able to group these buttons in the PRV Track Pane.

It's not anything special, perhaps we're suffering from a terminology difficulty? I simply mean one of my docked PRV tabs has all the other relevant tracks visible. Clear? No? Let's say I'm working with strings. I'll have separate tabs for: Bass Cello Viola 1st violins 2nd violins Tab 6 will have all the other tracks prv data visible "stacked" together.

I think Bristol Jonesey is saying he has the prv windows of the separate instruments open in the multidock, and then 1 prv with all of the instruments on it. I like this method. You can view the multiple parts in one window, then click on an individual parts tab in the multidock to view it on its own and edit it. Simple and effective.
