PRV: View > Show/Hide Drum Pane - is this not working in X1?

Folks -

In the Piano Roll View, there is a menu option View > Show/Hide Drum Pane. This does not appear to do anything. I've never seen a "tick" mark appear against it, and it does not seem to control the visibility of the Drum Grid Pane.

Am I missing something?

Hmmm... yes. Seems like the guy that was instructed to add it to the menu did his job, but the guy who was tasked with writing the code to implement the function did not. Guess you're stuck with dragging the pane divider up and down as in 8.5.3. Or was that function in 8.5.3 already, and I didn't know about it?

Won't this only work if you're routing via a drum map?
Are you routed to a drum map?

The issue is that the visibility of the Drum Grid Pane is purely dependent on where you put the pane divider. the Show/Hide option has no effect either way. If you have a drum map in place, you'll see drum names in the grid, if not, you won't, but that doesn't prevent you from seeing the pane.

Yeah, it seems unrelated to whether you are routing to a drum map or not. Seems like it is a completely unimplemented menu option.

Frankly, i've always thought there should be a toggle between Piano Roll View and Drum Grid View, and it shouldn't matter whether you're routing to a drum map or not.

I haven't decided if I like the new X1 behavior of showing the note names in the "real" piano roll view, rather than the keys.

Wait - I've just tried this with Session Drummer 3. The note names replace the keyboard graphics, but if you then route to a drum map, the keyboard graphics come back in the PRV.

I'm sure this is all documented in the manual around page 1691.

    And finally, a rant:

THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH RETAINING THE WIDTH OF THE NOTE MAP PANE. How hard can this be? Seriously? How many versions since this was identified?

    OK, rant over.

Yeah... Related to this I'm still waiting for them to make editing controllers in the controller pane something that can actually be accurately done... Try working on a guitar-ysnth track (midi) with six separate controllers and the stupid lanes issue making editing any one of them near impossible!

My apology... I'm not trying to change topic... I got triggered... and I can't delet it! ;-)
