PRV: drag midi note vertically without changing time - how? (SOLVED)

In 8.5 I just hovered the mouse over the middle of a note, and when the cursor changed to an up-down arrow, I could drag the event to a new midi note , without accidently changing the timing of the event.

How is this done in X1?

The only option I seem to have is the "move" tool, which isn't locked in any dimension. I must be missing something...

The help file seems to indicate that SHIFT+drag should work, which was actually my first instinct (matching the track view), but this doesn't appear to work.

Oh, OKAY, it does work, but you have to hold down SHIFT before you click on the note event. For some reason, I was used to doing Click > SHIFT.

(Did it work differently in 8.5 in the clip pane? Somehow I got used to grabbing the clip with the mouse and then holding down shift, to move vertically.)

Oh well. Problem solved, I guess.

Isn't there a shift option or something like that?

I often times use a "placer" note that is on the grid and select that along with the group of notes I am moving... then when I move that note everything else stays in place.

Yeah, thanks Mike, see my edited post (blush)

This is the first time using X1 for something real and I just keep finding things missing. Of course, now we can have an argument about the definition of "missing".

I would seriously like that up-down cursor back in the PRV, I think.
