RESOLVED PSP Vintage Warmer 2 crashing SPLAT iLOK ?? maybe Anyone else?

I've been using PSP Vintage Warmer 2 for a while, though it did just move to iLOK (hmmm?), and when I inserted it the other day, it crashed SPLAT. I used Safe Mode to remove it and tried again, causing another crash. The crash must be "serious enough" because I can't even send the report to CW HQ support.

I have sent in a ticket, but wonder if anyone else is having problems with this.

Years ago when I first had Vintage Warmer it was always a bit flaky fro me - but if I remember correctly that flakiness disappeared when it went to version 2 - have you thought of downloading the latest version, deleting the current version and re-installing? Just a thought.

I had just installed the latest version of Vintage Warmer 2  -
which is now activated by iLOK              before this crash.
I haven't heard from support yet, but plan to email PSP too.
I wondered if the iLOK part was the issue

Yeah   I'm up to date on all fronts, but it still does it when I try to insert VW2

I have emailed PSP in addition to CW support.

I've gotten a response from PSP and was asked if Vintage Warmer or Micro Warmer caused trouble.
They do not. So, it's only Vintage Warmer 2 or it's iLOK side of it.

All my PSP stuff is quite old, so no iLok - however I am not one of the iLok haters - for me its very convenient as I have two main systems (one here, one in Cape Town) so I just have to take my iLoks with me when I go and all is good!!
Does sound weird, do hope you get it sorted

I'm not an iLOK hater either. I am beginning to think it's the latest update to Vintage Warmer 2, but that is an uninformed guess.
I will post back once PSP figures it out, unless CW does. Either way, I expect a solution shortly.

I don't really use VW much, but it (the new 2.7 ilok version) loads OK here...

Thanks John. I guess I'll try it another project and see what happens, otherwise I'm just hanging out till PSP sorts it.

It finally occurred to me that PSP has also changed the 2445 and E27 to iLOK. So I checked them and they work without issue, as do Vintage Warmer and Micro Warmer (which are not iLOK).
So, it's only Vintage Warmer 2, as far as I can tell. PSP hasn't responded for a while, after the last "we're looking into it" and Cakewalk support hasn't at all.

    Hi Michael
Sorry been so long but busy trying to finish off our latest project!

Just put Vintage Warmer 2.3.1 (latest version) into a project and no issues at all - I thought I would check my account to make sure I had the latest version and on Vintage Warmer 2 iLok version my account says

    PC Win 32bit & 64bit
    iLok
unknown error - please contact PSP support2.3.1
    RTAS, VST"

So it looks like this is specific only to iLok version - could you not ask them to change yours to normal serial number authorisation??

Also it has just come to me  - about 2 years ago I had an issue with an iLok  Sonnox Oxford plug in - it would not load - I was told to load a legacy version of the iLok software (apparently Sonnox Oxford had not updated something their side) and all then worked OK - Just a thought, might be worth a try
Hope you get it sorted soon

    Maybe...????    I wonder if there's a workaround.

PSP's Adam Taborowski suggested going back a version to 2.6.0, which I'll do while they sort it out.

the latest versions no longer support their previous non-ilok authorisation, they're gradually updating them all, personally i'm really not happy about it, and still not sure why they've bothered going back (beyond the usual marketing justification gubbins, grrrrrrr)

    just a sec

I'll try moving back a version and see what gives. I wasn't happy about it and now am even less confident.
I'll post later, once I've had a chance to do it and check it out.
