Panning a track to the right side
Im taking an existing midi file (backing track) and use it during live peformances. I usually take the drum track (Channel 10) and pan it to the right so I can output it to our drummer from my right output on my keyboard and they are able to play along with the song. However, i still hear some noise (echo/reverb) coming through the left side. How do i fix this?

The only way there would be "noise" coming from the opposite side of the hard right drum track is if the audio coming from the triggered drum module has some effects on it. From what you describe, you shouldn't be putting any FX on that drum module, but that's what's making some stereo reverb to wash over on the left side of the stereo field. But a kinder way to treat your drummer would be to just pipe him a click track. It could be crazy making for a drummer to play drums along with an already produced drum track - give him a break and just give him a click. Randy B.

it could be an fx that is bleeding in the left. Are you using sends?

My drummer wants to hear the original drums. So since the midi file is already produced, how do i take the effects off the tracks?

We're agreeing on this thread that you're hearing reverb on the left even when the drums are all the way to the right - Reverb is applied to an Audio track. MIDI is data, and so it's impossible to have reverb on a MIDI track. If you're really talking about a MIDI clip, then it's the synth/drum machine being driven by the MIDI data which has the reverb on it. But I suspect that actually you're talking about an Audio clip with no MIDI involved - in which case, you can't remove the reverb. Randy B.

Drum sounds are coming from your keyboard? As Randy suggests, it could be your keyboard that has the reverb in it. That is confirmed if you using the midi pan control on channel 10 to send drums to the right. In that case, you can turn off the drums' reverb by setting channel 10's midi reverb control (e.g. using Sonar's track header for channel 10) to 0. However, if your keyboard audio is being sent through a mixer or through Sonar, there could be a reverb somewhere else in the effects chain, as sharpdion23 says. Bill B

Thanks guys...i'm pretty sure that it is the reverb. I used to use cakewalk 8.0 and i was able to adjust the reverb through the console view and it would fix the problem. However, i am now using Music Creator 5.0 and can't find where to fix it. Should i switch to Sonar instead?
