Panning reverb
I was just listening to The Logical Song by Supertramp, it has some really nice reverb on it, but it all appears to be panned left. Is it commonplace to pan all the reverb to one side or the other?

Back in the days when a studio might only have one mono reverb (they were expensive!), it wasn't too uncommon to pan the reverb return a little off-center to keep it from muddying the vocal. I don't hear that effect much these days, although it's still a valid technique - you just have more options now for clearing the center.

REverb, no. Most are stereo output these days, even if they are mono input.
Echo, now that is fun to pan, along with the dry track.

As bit said it's a very valid technique.
Placing verb off center & eq'ing it was one mixing technique that was taught when I was taking recording courses in LA in the 80's.
It's also where I used my first computer & learned about midi. Recording digital audio wasn't available yet & a lot sure has changed since then. Many more options these days but I would suggest trying it out to hear why it was used & useful, it's reverb 101.

I might try it on a sparse mix to see what it sounds like. Thanks for the Pancake tipoff Bit by the way. I'd been meaning to look for an autopanner that was as easy to use as the one you get with Pro Tools, and this looks much better.

Throw that song on phase meter and you'll see a mix that is very well bahaved. It's a mix that will sound great coming out of small mono speaker.
