Parties Parties Parties
One thing I didn't expect moving to South Louisiana was how many parties I'd be invited to. I've been going out quite a bit lately and meeting many people. Not many musicians though. Lots of great food! Mostly people and couples I know introducing me to all the local single ladies that just happened to be there. I'm not searching for a girlfriend. I have my dog to keep me company and Sonar to pass the time. Plus all those guitars. This weekend is no exception. I get to play and visit and go jam at the campground if I want. Crayfish much crayfish!

I've never been to a Crayfish party. Is that a local thing? We have a club called the Lobster Pot though, I suspect they have them kind of parties there. Perhaps I should checki it out, you make it sound fun.

I didn't want to use the term Crawfish. I'm respectable now and didn't know if Karyn Strammy Jonbouy etc.would know what I was talking about. I know in Missouri they call crawfish "bait".

Got to have them once... very, very yummy. Sounds like a good community. <edit> And, yes, while it is often spelled "cray" as Yorolpal says, it is pronounced "craw"

☄ Helpful
Crayfish party = one large picnic table covered with newspaper + one large pot of boiled seasoned crayfish, corn, sausages, etc., dumped right on the table. Pick up crayfish, snap at the tail, suck the head cavity, squeeze the meat out of the tail with your thumb and forefinger and suck that down. Eat corn and sausage and repeat process with crayfish until table is clean.

I was in Nu Oleens once and tried the crayfish......I just couldn't get a taste for them. Craig, I think what you said "suck the heas cavity" is kinda what grossed me out. I lurrve the gumbo, etouffe, and all the spicy seafood dishes......just not the crayfish. Possibly an acquired taste....

Sweet iced tea is big back there. With a healthy shot of bourbon. Plenty of cold beer goes down. Then you throw the boiled half lemons to the alligators. <-- (just a little yoke you know )
