Pedal Faster -UPDATED link to reflect new mix and master

Hi all (waving nervously),
I posted this to the LANDR thread in the Sonar Forum yesterday and someone very kindly suggested I try posting it here. It's one of my own songs and the first song I've ever posted here.
Here goes nothing ....
LJ

NEW: I changed the mix and master just now (Thursday evening) to reflect the suggestions that have so kindly
been given to me on this thread. I hope it's an improvement. Thanks so much to all who have taken their time to help me :) New Link: https://soundcloud.com/laura-thomson-723335445/mar16-pedal-faster11-to-landr-landr-low

P.S. Now I think I may have turned the guitar down a little too far  - hmmm.

Very beautiful piece! I love it. I'm not sure I like what LANDR did to it though. The guitar overtakes the vocals a bit. Did you LANDR each track individually, or the final mix? Just curious. I've never used it, though I've looked at it.

    Thank you very much  :)
I LandRed the whole mix at once (on the "low" setting), but now I'm thinking of bringing the vocal up a bit in the original mix and LandRing again to see if it improves the outcome.
Thanks again for the kind words,
    LJ

I'd actually just push the guitar back a bit and leave the vocal the way it is. Otherwise the balance with your other instrumentation will start getting out of whack.

Nice "air" on your voice, which is quite nice.

    Welcome to the songs forum.

Nice gentle tune, mix works reasonable here, as noted perhaps back off the guitar a tad, thanks for sharing.

Lovely guitar work. I'm with them: back the guitar off a little. Terrific change at 2:20 or so.Could the vocal use a treble boost?  That might just be my ears.

+1 to the above - pushing the acoustic back just a little may be all you need.     Though I might also try adding maybe a little reverb/delay on the violin part so it's a little less up-front... more depth.

And speaking of, your voice comes across really well and there's a lot of depth in the recording.

PS.... loved the change about half-way thru - good stuff!

    Great stuff here
    LJ ,
There are a lot of things in your song that I am very fond of ...
The first one is while I am listening to your song it actually brings me someplace other than where I am
You know , I'm sitting here in my dining room and once I start listening to your tune I feel as if I'm in another location
I feel like I can daydream and pretend that I'm in Paris , Italy or any other number of places I've only seen in a travel brochure .
The song itself has a very theatrical quality to it ...my impression is you may have had a background or have listened very deeply to some of the classic music that has come from the theatrical stage / musical genre .
I'm supposed to be some kind of guitar player around here and yet I wish I could get my acoustic guitar to sound even close or half as good to the lovely sound of yours ....
BTW , I agree with others , the acoustic may need to come down in the track to give your voice more clarity in the mix  .

Your Voice has a very soothing Angelic quality to it once it draws me in I want to hear more ...

This song is very nice Music .

Oh before I forget , Welcome to the Song  Forum

all the best to you  ,

    Kenny

It does sound smoother here, did you bring up the cello?  as I said on soundcloud Nice

1st listen, didn't hear the previous version. What a cool song, really enjoyed that! Agree with Kenny, it does have a theatrical quality to it. Very refreshing sound.

Kenny, I can't thank you enough for the kindness in what you wrote and for being so considerate and thoughtful in your comments.
Wookiee, thank you for my very first Soundcloud comment ever :). Yes, I changed the tone of the cello slightly and added a tiny bit of reverb.
jamesg1213, I appreciate that very much. I'd give a lot to be thought of as "refreshing" more often! :)

What a generous bunch you are - all so talented and still taking the trouble to be encouraging to a newcomer - thank you!

Just had a listen to the second mix...    Much better IMO - the voice is the centerpiece as it should be!  And the guitar and cello better balance themselves at the L & R positions.   The overall mix seems a bit wider.

BTW... love those few dissonant lines you had thrown in.

Hi Laura, I again listened to "Shadow Boarder" and think it's terrific.  Then I clicked on "Pedal Faster" at your soundcloud thing -- and I'm glad I did!  This is the most beautiful piece I've ever heard on this site (as well as elsewhere in a long time).  Your voice (and guitar) is beautiful as is the melody, arrangement and the lyric.  Brava!

(I bumped this for those who - like me - missed it in March.)
