Pentagon 1

I use x64 on my main production system. I have a laptop with 32-bit version to tinker with ideas... I was enjoying using Pentagon and when I went to my main system, I couldn't get Pentagon to load. Is that an x64 issue???

I had the same problem. I have Vista and went  into Sonar as Administrator and that worked.

Windows 7 you need to open Sonar as admin too.

I had the same problem, and someone at Cakewalk suggested this, and it fixed it.  I set up Sonar to always run as admin, then after months realised that I hadn't used Pentagon.  I then read an article on using Pentagon as a vocoder and gave it a try.  Had great fun for a bit, but then had a major crash.  I'm not saying it was Pentagon, but my system has been ultra-stable, so have not used it since. Will try again sometime, I suppose.

    Edit for spelling....

I've forgotten about that - I've encountered the same problem too, found the answer, setup shortcut to run as admin and did not think much about it then.

Running in admin seems to be required for some other vst as well.. just can't remember which ones, so it's easier running X1 as admin all the time.

I've been using Pentagon too, again, to experiment with its vocoder ability.

I knew that you had to run Sonar as admin, with Win7, but is there a way to stop the message popping up asking me if it is okay for the software to run.

I've jumped straight from XP to Win7 and this dialog box is new to me.

    cheers

I've been clicking Yes for too long, so it's part of the routine. Well, I've also noticed there is this option below "Change when this notification appears" and I suppose you can setup if yes/no is required, but I think it's global, so you may want to leave it as it is ?

Yeah... me too, and I'm with you, thinking that I should leave this as it is, just in case...

I suppose an extra click isn't too much bother.

Guys, Thanks for the help. I swapped over to "run as administrator" that fixed the loading issue. Now.... I have a new question.... every time i hit a key on the keyboard it has a moment or 2 before the sound begins. It doesnt do this with dimension or rapture, is there a setting I'm overlooking for split second timing with pentagon? When I'm tinkering around it doesn't matter but the attack seems awful slow when I'm trying to play against something already recorded.

The option to run a program as an administrator can be linked to the program by the following procedure, or via the  Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit.
