Perfect Girl - Roots Rock (Now Streaming Link)

EDIT: Realized that listeners might prefer a streaming version rather than downloading, so I created a ReverbNation account and uploaded it there, now links to streaming version.

Here's a song I did a couple of weeks ago, the last one in 8.3 before I upgraded to X1. Just a bit of roots rock, me on guitar and vox, Superior Drummer 2, and Kontakt 4 for bass (Scarbee Pre-Bass), clavi, and brass (from the default library)

Here's the lyrics, too, because, well...I like lyrics.

Perfect Girl

If I wasn't doing this I'd just be doing something else...

    Cool.  Heaps cool.

You want comments?  That's why you're here, I suppose.  If not, don't read on.

I like the arrangement.  Although I'm not sure about the brass.  This sort of song needs real brass, and I've not heard a synth brass that can cut it in a song like this!

The kit's a bit up front I think.  I struggle with this too ... getting the kit to rock the song without distracting the listener.  Real hard.  In this one there's something about the mix of the snare relative to the cymbals I think - it's a bit up front, and there's something L/R reverby you've done which sounds good but distracts from the rest of the song.

Vox suits the song, but is too far back.  Get it up there, dude.  The reverb on the vox is also different to the sound I'm getting from the rest of the arrangement, maybe that'll get it sounding in this song and not in another.

But, overall, kudos man, that sounds fine.

Hey thanks for checking it out. I hear you on all points about the mix. I actually started trying to remix this in X1 and some odd problems started cropping up, so I may try it again in 8.3
