Perfect Space Presets?

I created reverb bus and put Perfect Space in the FX bin. I have never used Perfect Space before, but all the presets are blank. Shouldn't there be some files of impulses and presets somewhere? Thanks.

This is a terrible design flaw in Perfect Space...and a lot of VST's are this way..

They will have a place that says "PRESETS"....but that''s NOT where the presets are...

Kinda silly to have a PRESET spot, button, whatever that doesn't show you the presets...

Even if it does have other functionality...it shouldn't say PRESETS....

But Jonesey is right...the PRESETS are accessed by the small FOLDER Icon...that's
where you can navigate to the IR Library

You have to make your own presets, but most of the work is done by the impulses, which can be browsed by clicking on the folder.  The browser can look elsewhere, if you are a collector.  I have several gigs of impulses - one might say I'm an impulsive collector of impulses, many of them free on the web.

Once you have an impulse loaded, you can shape the reverb like an algorithmic one.  Save those as a preset, if you want, tho Alexis is right, I think, in not providing presets w/ the limited number of impulses that come w/ PS.  Kinda defeats the whole purpose.

An impulse is not a preset. Its what drives the convolution engine. You choose one and than make adjustments as needed. Than save those adjustments as a preset if you want.

OK, thanks.  This is very helpful, although I do wish they had included some tweaked presets based on the impulses.  I will look in the folder and am sure I can figure something out.  Thanks for the screen shot!

I know some people on this forum don't believe in presets, but I am a songwriter and arranger and handle all my own marketing and sales, so I really don't have time to mess around inventing things that experts can do better.   There was a time when I spent endless hours turning knobs and running patch cables to create sounds, but those days are long gone!

Well, the standard PS only comes w/ a few impulses.  There are more you can download from the voxengo site for free.  But the impulse is a lot of the "sound" of the reverb.  You'll find bright plate, dark plate, cavern etc. as impulses.  That pretty much covers your presets, tho you can tweak.  The biggest change to the sound is via the dry/wet levels.  Next is the legnth, where you effect the impulse itself.

The eq/filter etc. settings are better done before or after PS, since it is a cpu hog and those effects are better done w/ sonitus, prochannel etc.

Just spend a few minutes searching for free impulses (including our own James at noisevault.com).  Find the right impulse and you don't need to tweak any more than you want to.

Sony's website also has a bunch that are used inside Sound Forge but I think they are free.

    Mike,

unless it has changed you can only use the sony impulses in their convolution reverb.  But you do get nice pictures of the halls and caves ;-)
