Permut8 - "route MIDI to effects"?

Hi,

I'm playing around with Permut8, and having a lot of fun with it. It is a VST effects plugin - but it can accept MIDI program changes, or can use MIDI keys to change programs, or various parameters.

I can't figure out how to send MIDI to it though.

If I tick the box to "configure as synth" (in plugin properties) - it doesn't want to appear as a VST synth - so I think it has to be configured as a VST efx (understandable). Is anybody using this? Has anyone figured out a way to route MIDI to it?

Thanks

I usually use ASIO set at 64 or 128 samples
er - that's it I think...

Don't have this, but normally for this kind of thing I would configure it as a synth, then insert it into the effects bin as for any other effect plug (ie, not via the synth rack). Normally it will receive MIDI as the synth on the track whose fx bin it is associated with, does.
    Is that what you tried?

Thanks Brando - yeah, I tried that. When you enable it as a synth - it doesn't show up in the "synths" menu (even when you add it)

I can confirm. I downloaded the demo to try it out. Same issue here.

It's not the end of the world - there are lots of "automatable" parameters - it would be nice to use MIDI keys to automate too though...

    I got this working!

For some reason it was confusing the 64 bit version and the 32 bit version of the plugin.

I deleted the 32 bit version of the plugin - and now when I set permut8 as a "synth" plugin - it disappears from the "effects" layout and appears in my "synths" layout *AND* you can set up a MIDI track to output MIDI to it...

Hi John - yes I also saw your comment at KVR - tried it and you are correct. Took care of the issue here also.
