Personal Thanks to Karyn
Just like to thank you personally for your work as possibly the last of the Forum Hosts. A big thank you for locking the Announcement Thread. Other that the few posts by Noel it was 58 pages of bickering and pointless debate. Some of the debaters are usually helpful people but it serves no purpose when threads turn into what that one did. People please take the time to seek out and read what Noel has posted. It's like his comments get ignored and if you did read them there would not be the 80% of what's being said and the speculation and arguing happening here. Here is a short list of things I've gleaned form what Noel has said. 1- Sonar will work for a long time yet sans updates or bug fixes for now. Just like the old day of once a year releases. 2- There is no plan to shut down the servers so activation is not an issue. Relax. 3- There is still a crew working at Boston who can help you on a limited basis. Be Patient. 4- Gibson has not tossed Cakewalk in the dust bin. As Noel has said repeatedly, he cannot talk about this so please stop speculating, but something IS happening. So Don't Panic. 5- There is no plan to kill this forum. So please stick around and lets focus on helping each other use Sonar

Amen. Geez people, go make some music or something. I've almost quit coming here because of all the whining. I don't know about everyone else's situation, but my software apparently didn't hear the announcement. It works like it always did. Go figure.

There are other Hosts still around, we all do our bit. We all thank you. We left "that thread" open to provide a place for folk to express their opinion without filling up the forum with thread after thread after thread... maybe we should have closed it sooner... All we ask is to please make our "job" easy by thinking before you post. The forum has to remain useful to stay alive. If in doubt, go make some music

Good news, good advice, forum continues to be active. This is the best place for SONAR users to help one another. The software has proved reliable for the most part and I've all ways found a work around for any troubles I have had. I've been using SONAR since 2006 on a daily basis, mostly 7 days a week. As it stands now. I can pretty much do anything I need to do when it comes to production, and I can do a lot of things I don't need to do. So many tools have been thrown in with producer over the years. I feel sorry for the crew working at SONAR. When the X versions first came out, We had issues, many, that was a large job, to say the least , moving all of those dialog boxes to the new microsoft c++ platform, I never complained too much, cause I realized there was much work involved and only about millions of things that can go wrong on a computer program, and, they happen fast.in the blink of an eye. Remains the reputation of x versions, Platinum all ways worked good on my machine. Most every trouble I had was a switch setting somewhere, And, as said above, there is all ways another way to workaround other troubles. So I'm just going to continue to use platinum It works great, work on my platinum record. Only way that's gonna happen is if I get busy. My heart goes out to the people who list their jobs and their income. I've been there, hard times.and not completely out of them yet, But, I'm blessed to be working on music using great software and a unbelievably good old machine, an old Dell workstation, For many of the hard times years, this quality of computer and software was not to be had,at any price. I remember when the pc first came out, looking for what we have now. It was a long way off,30 years And waiting, so the wait is over. We're all blessed to have access to affordable software that we have, and, as I say, the program works well, time for me to get busy clicking. Later my good buds Wayne

And so.... by Karen's own "rules", why is this thread still in the SONAR forum? It has nothing to do with SONAR peer support.

What's up Cactus? How ya doin'? Thanks for this synopsis of what's going on. I've had very little time, patience or energy to wade through and parse the plethora of posts about all this so this is helpful. Sounds like there has been some new movement now that the holidays are over and we'll have some more definitive answers as soon as they become available. Cheers!
