Personalize user settings....?
Hi all
Installing X3 ...so far so good....
Wondering what are the pros & cons of allowing or aborting personalization settings...? ( SONARPDR )
My insticts say abort.... as I prefer not to introduce potential problems from X2a ( caused by my poor choices in some previous settings .....sample libs , vst locations, 32 bit / 64 bit etc... ),
I checked threads for this question & found none to be relevant..
Win 8 64bit , AMD quad 3.4GHz , OS & X3 on C: drive, Cakewalk Content on D: drive, Onyx1640 Firewire,

I allowed X3 to personalize my settings and it seems to work great. But that's just my experience.

You can always reset to factory defaults by holding CTRL and SHIFT when opening SONAR so there is no risk in allowing the install to use the previous version config. I have always allowed the installer to use previous version config.

While I realize this is not a new pc install ..I was hoping to leave my settings in X2a behind... and maybe begin with a fresh start with X3 ,
Or am I misunderstanding the purpose of the personalization process...?

It is your call, that is why the prompt is there. I have several tweaks to the SONAR config files that I prefer not to re-enter every time. But then X1d and X2a ran fine for me.

I honestly do not remember since it only happens once for each version of SONAR. I would recommend double checking the
Preferences > File > Folder Locations
after installation regardless.

I personalized the settings on my X3 install, and it changed the file locations back to default. So yeah it doesn't have anything to do with the file location.
